From the Roots linking with Joanna Newsom to Kanye West tapping Justin Vernon of Bon Iver for “Monster,” Hip Hop has been looking more and more to independent folk artists for collaborations. Now, Anticon signees Serengeti and Son Lux have teamed up with folk powerhouse Sufjan Stevens for a new project.

According to Pitchfork, the trio of artists – who will go by the title s / s / s – are preparing to release a new four-track EP titled Beak and Claw via Anticon. The project came out of Buck 65’s ’09 remix to Sufjan Stevens’ cover of Castanets’ “You Are the Blood,” which featured a verse from Serengeti.

The EP, which is set for a March 20 release, will feature appearances from rapper DoseOne and My Brightest Diamond’s Shara Worden. Worden has also collaborated with Jedi Mind Tricks on their ’06 track “Razorblade Salvation” and Vinnie Paz on his solo song “Keep Movin’ On.”
