Diddy Releases Statement On Academy Award Win For "Undefeated"

Diddy took home an Oscar for serving as executive producer on the documentary.

Last night, Diddy won an Oscar at the 84th annual Academy Awards for serving as executive producer on the documentary Undefeated.

The Bad Boy mogul signed on as executive producer earlier this month for a remake of the flick, nabbing a production credit on the original version during the process. The film, which won in the Best Documentary at last night’s ceremony, focuses on a group of high school football students and their struggles to succeed during one particular season.

Acknowledging the victory, Diddy tweeted, “DREAMS DO COME TRUE!! Hard work pays off!!”

UPDATE: Diddy has released an official statement to the.LIFE Files regarding his Oscar win.

Hello World,

Waking up the day after such an incredible experience is humbling.

I have had so many dreams, some came true others are still being worked on. That said, being apart of a film that shows the drive and determination of kids who seemingly have no hope, no future, and nothing but obstacles, has taught me that there is a universal spirit of faith and character in all of us that binds us. Their story is my story, is our story, is your story at some real level, we can relate. Once the flame is ignited in us, nothing can stop us. I hope to be that spark that makes everyone believe anything is possible. God bless you all and I thank you for sharing in this honor with me.

Sean Combs.

I would've much rather seen Beats, Rhymes & Life win something, but we can pin our hip-hop hopes on Ice-T's upcomin' emcee doc walkin' away with some accolades at next year's awards. We all need to get behind Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained as well. Hollywood is only comfortable with insipid, obsequious racial dramas like Driving Miss Daisy, Blind Side and this year's horrible the Help. Tarantino's the only mainstream white film-maker who writes decent Black characters and his take on the slavery topic'll be as idiosyncratic as his other work, not some bullshit, mawkish Amistad nonsense that Hollywood usually churns out.

People, don't pay attention to this, he was Executive producer and was not invited to the stage to get an Oscar as only the lead producers get that. Its a fabrication. He knows he didn't actually get a statue, but he's talking shit to the hip-hop community because they believe him and don't research for themselves. Google undefeated Oscar winners for yourself, his name is not there and hes just piggybacking off of others hard work. I watched the full ceremony as did millions around the world.

I'm guessing exec producer title means he put up the loot to fund this joint. Nonetheless...congrats, puff. Now go sit your ass down and stop trying to get back into the rap game/hip hop game that you've f'ed up. Thanks.
