The Top 10 Most Popular Hip Hop Singles The Week Of 1/30/2012

Over the past few weeks, a lot of music was re-circulating on HipHopDX’s Top Ten list. We kept seeing pop-ups from T.I.’s Dr. Dre collabo (“Popped Off” ), and then of course from Common’s Drake diss heard round the world (“Stay Schemin” ). It was a combination of recyclables and new faces. This week we are proud to announce that the list is mostly brandy new music that’s released. It’s good to keep refreshing that audio button. You never know what you’ll find.

Common and T.I. Show Up With Completely Different Songs From Last Week

Talk about the ultimate switcheroo. Like we just mentioned above, “Popped Off” and “Stay Schemin” consistently repped on the list. This week, however, we get new tracks from both. T.I.’s track “I Need Dollas” made a beeline to the top singles as soon as it arrived. Meanwhile, Common continues hard at work on freestyles. Remember, “Stay Schemin” was technically a “freestyle” too. He continues that progression with this week’s “Shot Caller” (he also stopped by Cosmic Kev and rocked a “Streets Is Watching” freestyle). It’s good to know that two of Hip-Hop’s heavyweights can last on the list, then turn right back around with new music and represent once again.

Big K.R.I.T. Gets a New Single, Tech N9ne and Twist Get a Guest Appearance

We’re still waiting for K.R.I.T.’s debut album Live From the Underground to arrive this year. In the meantime, though, K.R.I.T. will be dropping a mixtape “4Eva N A Day” on February 20th. This week, he delivered the track “Boobie Miles” much to fans’ excitement and it made our #1 this week. While it’s great to have yet another Big K.R.I.T. mixtape, when is this album dropping already? Meanwhile, the artist T.T. dropped a video for his track “Midwest Meltdown” with Tech N9ne and Twista. We posted the audio of this song (it actually dropped in December – late pass) and the response was heavy. By the way, remember all of that talk about a Twista and Tech N9ne mixtape? Erroneous!
