French Montana Speaks On Signing To Bad Boy, Says Maybach Music Was His Second Choice

After announcing that he's signed to Bad Boy, French Montana explains what led him to that choice.

After much talk about which record label Bronx rapper French Montana might sign with the rapper finally revealed the news during an appearance on BET’s 106 & Park this week. And according to the rapper he’s taking his talents to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records.

French Montana recently spoke on signing with Diddy and Bad Boy during an interview with Billboard’s “The Juice.”

"It's different with me because it wasn't just one label that offered me [a] deal," French Montana told The Juice. "I had offers from everybody so when I made the choice, I made the choice I was [most] comfortable with. I don't judge a person from what people say about them. I judge a person by my own relationship with them. The deal [with Diddy] just felt right and it felt like it was the right thing to do. I felt like I can make a change with this for the music culture that I came from."

The rapper revealed that if he hadn’t signed to Bad Boy the second choice would have been Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group.

"I love MMG. If I wasn't going with Bad Boy, I definitely would have gone with MMG," French Montana explained. "That's why I had to make Ross executive producer on my album. Me and him got the same vibe. He's definitely been involved with everything I've been doing, giving me some good advice, and helping me out. You always need a mentor."

As of now French Montana is currently preparing for the release of his studio album although he isn’t too concerned with putting it out in a hurry.

"They want me to pick the release date, but I feel like it should be whenever the time is right... definitely next year," said the rapper. "First album's gotta be a classic. All the greats' first albums are. I want mine to be like a Doggystyle."

not a fan of his but I wish him luck with his career. Personally I don't see why any artist would want to sign with Bad Boy but I hope it works out with him.

Cause i don;t see it...nor do I hear it. The game been fucked up anyways....if kreayshawn got a million dollar deal...why can't this nigga get one? Just sayin. And i'm tired of people sayin "he got good beats" NO!...the producers he fucks with got good beats. Thats not enough to make me buy anybodies album...I just download the instrumentals.

If there's only one French Montana song, you need to hear to judge the nigga, it's this "go hard" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuTtNGIPvpI Instant classic, I think he's best track. You listen to Frenchie when you in your whip wit your boyz. Don't get it twisted he ain't the best rapper but man, the dude has an aura for making music that bumps.

Actually the only song worth listening to from French is "What I Do." The original. Before the remix with Max B. Come to think of it. The song you posted sounded like something Max would write.

haven't you tools realized being good truly has nothing to do with making it? If you know how to market and draw a following... nobody cares what you sound like or what you say because the dollars are rolling in. If the only rappers who made it were the truly talented artists, there wouldn't be much to listen to.

Everyone is complaining that NYC needs to be the forefront of Rap because thats where it came from...But if we have garbage talentless idiots like this guy and Maino,Red Cafe and a couple other nobodies, then by all means NYC can stay irrelevant. This guy sucks, doesn't matter what label he signed to cuse now a days the wackest rappers are getting the big deals with labels, what has this guy done anyways??? I hear no one in Chicago talking about this dude
