Common Speaks On "Sweet" Remix With Kanye West, G.O.O.D. Music Relationship

Com clarifies where he stands with G.O.O.D. Music, as well as Yeezy's involvement with his upcoming album.

Though Common's upcoming album, The Dreamer, The Believer, will be released on Warner Bros. Records, the Chicago emcee clarified that he still has a relationship with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label.

"I'm still G.O.O.D. Music-affiliated," explained Common in an interview on DJ Drama's Aphilliate's Radio Show on Shade 45. "The album is not coming out on G.O.O.D. Music because, business-wise, we had to just make other moves. But, man, 'Ye, the whole G.O.O.D. Music family...they all my peoples."

The subject of Kanye West led to a question about Common's frequent collaborator's involvement with the album. "He ain't produce on it. He actually hopped on one of the songs, the 'Sweet' remix. He definitely was loving the album. He was happy that me and No I.D. connected. No I.D. introduced me to Kanye years ago."

Be was a classic album, there is no doubt about that.. Ye's latest production efforts have be less than impressive. I don't blame Common for leaving GOOD music. They seem to be focusing more on Big Sean and that lil kid music I hate to say. I have complete faith in a a Common No Id album because the Neptune project was completly off the mark

lets hope Common's flow actually matches the beat this time and his lyrics aren't some half ass rhymes a dope emcee could have just freestyled

so will his No ID produced album be better than his Kanye produced CLASSIC, Be?...uum i dont think so. I still cant get over that i gta wait another 2 months for some new Rick Ross

think he need to make a like water for chocolate 2 with questlove and madlib taking over dillas spot

    • tresdemayo

that'd be hella dope. Badu, Mos Def & Kweli all turned to Madlib, Common should too. But the problem with Madlib producing a major album is samples clearance... That's why he keeps it underground with the Beat Conducta series and all that

The Common and NO I.D works collab works just as well as Common and Kanye West, they just both get different things out of him as producers.

So basically if he would've stayed on g.o.o.d. music then he would've never gotten a release date or something like that? Props to Common for wording it in a nice way

I think Com should have stayed on GOOD. His affiliation helped him sell good numbers. If his last one did not sell as well, that was his fault for choosing dumb songs. But really, business-wise, Com could have still done well under GOOD. But at least he shows love towards them.
