MTV recently caught up with hit producer T-Minus to chop it up his contributions to Drake‘s recent smash Take Care. During the interview, T-Minus discussed how Drizzy’s collaboration with fellow Young Money partner Nicki Minaj, “Make Me Proud,” came about. He explained that after searching through the stacks for the right beat for the duo, he went about making an entirely new beat for Aubrey and company. T-Minus also spoke on the duo’s chemistry on the record, saying that while he can’t confirm whether they’ve actually been shacking up, they’re on-record presence is fantastic.

“[With ‘Make Me Proud,’] Drake was looking for a record to put Nicki on for Take Care, and we were debating a lot of different records that we had,” he said. “We had ideas, and what happened was we came up with this one idea, [Drake was] like, ‘I want something with a lot of energy and sounds fast, but it has a slow tempo.’ Pretty much what I did was I came up with a beat really fast, it took maybe like 30 minutes, sent it to him. He was like, ‘Okay, it’s a wrap. I got this.'”

He added, “I really don’t know what goes behind closed doors with [Drake and Nicki Minaj]. It could be something, but I personally don’t even knows what goes on. I feel like musically, they go really well together. I think they’re a great contribution to Young Money and I think their chemistry is great.”
