The People’s Choice Awards released nominations for its annual awards ceremony to be held in January. Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry lead the pack of music acts with five nominations each followed by Soul singer Adele who earned four nods.

Eminem will go up against Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber in the Favorite Male Artist category and will also challenge B.o.B, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, and Pitbull in the category of Favorite Hip Hop Artist. Last year, Eminem received the Favorite Song of the Year award with Rihanna for the song “Love the Way You Lie .” This year, Rihanna is nominated for Favorite R&B Artist against Ne-Yo and Chris Brown.

The People’s Choice Awards is will air on January 11.

UPDATE: Last night, Eminem took home Favorite Hip Hop Artist at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards. Rihanna was named Favorite R&B Artist, while Bruno Mars took home the award for Favorite Male Artist. Kanye West also won for his contribution to Katy Perry’s “E.T. (Remix),” which was named Favorite Song of the Year.
