Cornel West is among 19 arrested at a recent protest.

Civil rights activist, author and Princeton University professor Dr. Cornel West was arrested yesterday (October 16) while protesting on the steps of the Supreme Court.

According to cbsnews.com, the protest concerned corporate influence in politics.

A Supreme Court spokeswoman says 19 people were arrested Sunday afternoon after refusing to leave the court.

Ann Wilcox, attorney and legal adviser to the protesters, says that West was among those arrested at the Stop the Machine protest in Washington's Freedom Plaza.

The protest had an anti-war and anti-corporate greed message.

Obama bombed Libya Africa, Uganda Africa, Yemen Africa, Somalia Africa, Ivory Coast Africa, Obama is bringing Colonial control (aka Apartheid) back to Africa. Kenya is even against "house nigga" Obama.

Yemen is not in Africa. Check your maps again. It is in the southern part of the Arabian peninsula ( In the Middle East). By the way bombing and ousting terrorists and undemocratic leaders is the best thing Obama could do. The world is a better place without cowards hiding in the desert and the forests of this world plotting the death of innocent civilians.

    • Obamas Great African Military Safari

As far as diabolical evil is concerned going after Africa while Obama is in office is a stroke of pure genius. BLACKS NEVER SAW IT COMING!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA

    • Obamas Great African Military Safari

In 2008, Barrack Obama made history as the first black President in the United States of America. Three years later, he has made history again, this time as the first US President to establish a permanent US military presence on the African continent. Obama announced earlier this week, I believe that deploying these U.S. armed forces furthers U.S. national security interests and foreign policy and will be a significant contribution toward counter-LRA efforts in central Africa. It is ironic that Americas first black President would be the one to establish a permanent US military beach head in Africa, but one only has to read the numerous strategic briefings available from U.S. AFRICOM to reveal a long-range Anglo-American agenda for the Dark Continent. When the US formed AFRICOM in 2007 under President George W. Bush, 49 different countries signed on to the US military imperial charter for Africa. AFICOM is a colonial subsidary of Neoconservative pice de rsistance known as the Project for a New American Century (PNAC). In sporting terms, you could say that Bush Jr kicked the ball down the field in 2007, but it is Barrack Obama who has carried the ball over the goal line in 2011. Last Friday, Obama extended his bold new African military safari, ordering the deployment of 100 special forces US troops to central Africa country of Uganda, allegedly to support local forces in battling the Lords Resistance Army (LRA). Formed in 1987, they have been engaged in an armed rebellion against the ruling Ugandan government. Interestingly, LRAs leader is the infamous Joseph Kony, who also has all the makings of a bin-Ladenesque comic book villain. Should that conflict escalate, tales of Kony will provide a ready, out-of-the-box meal for a US mainstream media machine who are forever gagging for a new world public enemy number one. Uganda looks to have brokered an initial deal here as a US local partner in Africa, a relationship which was formalized following Ugandas key role (allegedly), for in battling Muslim extremists in Somalia. Whatever Ugandas actual role was, their rewards have been substantial. Obama recently sent them around $45 million in military equipment, and this will certainly be topped up annually if Uganda continues to host US troops there. From an AFRICOM standpoint, this latest deal with Uganda is a major step forward in militarily colonizing the continent. What Obama did not highlight in his announcement last week is that a small force is already present in Uganda, and that the new attachment of US special forces who are arriving shortly will be dispatched to perform various ops in the surrounding South Sudan, Somalia, Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Add to this an extensive laundry list of US State Department and national security objectives, and you have a fully baked recipe for a permanent US military presence in Africa. To achieve this, the US will also require numerous black ops, backed by a large supporting cast of CIA field workers, agents, US military administrators and paid contractors. This will enable the US, with all the elements necessary for the overthrow of any African country south of the Sahara desert. If recent events in North Africa are any indication, the US will often back and support a military dictatorship, rather than allow for a countrys own self-determination. Egypt is the best example of this. After all the fanfare surround the Arab Spring, few have bothered to pay attention to who and what actually replaced Egypts overthrown regime there. Now Egypts temporary military government does not want to relinguish the reins of power. Interestingly, only one country refused to sign on to AFRICOMs neocolonial charter. That country was Libya. If you have any doubts as to what a country can expect if it falls foul of the Americas AFRICOM dictates, look no further than Libya and its leader Moummar Qaddafi. Following UNs flimsy resolution 1973, Libya was pulverized by a full-blown NATO military air assault. Following the destruction of most of its cities and their infrastructures, Libya is currently in the process of being carved by by a select list of US and European corporations. Its doubtful that Libya will ever see half the stability or prosperity it had achieved under Qaddafi. Libya was a hot run, and a subsequent Beta test on the part of NATO and AFRICOM. First on AFRICOMs menu is sanctions, then regime change, followed by the privatization and auctioning off of any valuable state assets to US and European companies, and eventually a long, hard session of neoliberal IMF economic shock therapy. On the very long-range end of the agenda will be to unify Africa in an EU-style superstate, and with a single African currency. Proponents of AFRICOM seem confident, and with good reason. The US has always been successful at achieving a high level of destabilization in any country it interacts with militarily. This special brand of engineered chaos then needs to be managed by a strong military presence in the region. Globalist elites and transnational corporations could not be more thrilled, opening up new markets, which means new monopolies, along with cheap labor for engineering and manufacturing jobs in Africa. In terms of global geopolitical chessboard, AFRICOMs most significant objective for America and Europe will be to confront, minimize, sabotage, and where possible- completely destroy Chinas economic interests in Africa. Evicting the Chinese from their hundreds of economic interests and political partnerships in Africa amounts to a new Cold War between the Anglo-American Empire and China. The process will take time, and will no doubt cost many billions of dollars, and thousands of innocent lives will be lost at the hands of CIA-sponsored civil and guerrilla wars. One AFRICOM study believes that China would eventually send its troops to Africa, to defend its economic interests there. The study predicts: Now China has achieved a stage of economic development which requires endless supplies of African raw materials and has started to develop the capacity to exercise influence in most corners of the globe. The extrapolation of history predicts that distrust and uncertainty will inevitably lead the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) to Africa in staggering number. AFRICOM, in its own words, is almost expecting a military confrontation with China over its interests in Africa. In the twilight days of every US administration, an American President is defined by his all-important legacy. Whether Obama becomes either a one term or two term President- after its all said and done, he will be remembered as the President who sold out Africans to his globalist overlords- the man who eventually broke the back of Africa. Ironic, considering how much hope people had from him.

wow, a lot of hatred towards a man who's actually out there trying to make a difference in this world. I've him publicly speak a few times and the man is extremely intelligent....unlike many bloggers.

    • Real Talk 100

I dont hate the man, but I understand why people hate it when you have people like Dr West that are apart of a socialist/marxist movement to overthrow the system of government we have under the U.S. Constitution. Many people do not always agree wit the decisions of the Supreme Court, but I think most Americans think the Supreme Court is a good thing. Brown vs Board of Education was good, wasnt it? Fascists, like Cornell West hate institutions like the Supreme Court, because they are not democratically elected. Well Dr West, if the Supreme Court was democratically elected, we would still have segregation and Jim Crow. It's a concept that James Madison and our Founders warned us about called "tyranny of the masses". Considering our country's history with racism, blacks and other minorities should especially recognize the dangers of pure democracy in which a strong minority or a majority of the people are "adversed to the rights of other citizens". Pure democracy leads to tyranny, read about the history of the French Revolution and Nazi Germany. Shit, just read history about 19th and 20th century American history, why do you think the supporters of slavery formed the "Democrat Party" to expand "democracy"? Federalist Paper # 10 "that measures are too often decided, not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor party, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority." Overstand?

    • R.Pgh

'trying his best' is never a good analogy for the President of the United States. In terms of 'promises' he made before his presidency, there are a total of 449 Promises. 51 were broken, 149 were kept, 44 were comprimised, 69 were stalled, and 193 are 'in the works' http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/obameter/

    • Kevin

"trying" your best isn't good enough when you're the president. Especially when Obama has been breaking campaign promises left right and center. The point is results. Maybe most of us would falter but you know what, you dont see us running for the job. Once you ask for responsibility and you fail, its not hating when you're called out on it. Yes, its not completely Obama's fault, but he bears a good part of the blame

    • room2roam

whose best is good enough? you would easily falter under the pressure that man faces on a day to day basis. and what have you done to help. one man cant change america or even a race.

    • smfh

So he's supposed to follow and support Obama's incompetent ass no matter what, just because he's black? Way to be a blind follower. It doesn't matter if he's "trying his best", his best isn't good enough.
