John Legend To Executive Produce Comedy Show "Mixed Blessings" For NBC

The singer-songwriter ventures into television with his upcoming comedy show.

R&B singer John Legend has closed a deal with NBC to bring his single-camera comedy project Mixed Blessings to NBC.

According to Deadline.com, Legend with executive produce the show alongside former NBC executive Teri Weinberg. Legend and Mike Jackson are executive producing through their Get Lifted Film Co.

The show, based on Jackson’s childhood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, focuses on “a prominent, black, street-bred hip-hop artist enjoying his single life who discovers that he has a teenage son and decides to connect with him and his white suburban family.” It will explore the “culture clash and the complicated journey of a father and son beginning their relationship as the dad soon discovers that fame, talent, and wealth get you nowhere when it comes to parenting.”

    I hope they don't get sued for using the title "Mixed Blessings". There's an old school British show that had the same title about a mixed couple's life and times. You know how "sue-happy" ppl are!!

    in the words of Nair Jones ...... SAMBOISM.....Although this is what I now expect from John Legend.... I cringe at the thought of how ignorant and stereotypical they will make the "hip hop artist".... fortunately it doesnt sound like it will make it.
