Big K.R.I.T. recently delayed his Def Jam debut Live from the Underground to 2012, but he’s got good reason. Speaking with XXLMag.com, the Meridian, Mississippi native explained that he wants more time to focus on the music and perfect the final product.
“I really just wanna take out more time and work on the music, and they let me do that,” he said, explaining that he wants more time to clear samples. “With some of the samples that I chose to use, tracking down the person that owns the publishing has become a task. It’s just something I’m not quite used to dealing with.”
Revealing that he will release an EP before his album hits stores, K.R.I.T. said that he will drop a single soon and has two special features for his debut.
“There’s two features that came up that I had the opportunity to work with,” he said. “I ain’t gonna mention who they are—they super, duper legends, put it like that. And I got some records on there that I feel like the subject matter and the content, I just needed to kind of mold it a little bit better.”
