After a day of sales, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV projects to have one of the highest first-week sales of any album this year.
According to Billboard, the long-awaited album, which was released after the MTV Video Music Awards at 12:00 AM, is on pace to sell 850,000 to 900.000 units.
The album will almost certainly take the No. 1 spot, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ I’m With You likely coming in second with 175,000 to 200,000.
Wayne’s latest, if the projections hold true, will have the highest first-week sales for a Hip Hop album since Tha Carter III, which sold 1.01 million in its first week in 2008.
Carter IV will be Wayne’s third No. 1 album.
