Hype Williams To Direct Second Feature Film "Lust"

The famed Hip Hop music video director is hopping back in the director's chair for his first feature film since "Belly."

Hype Williams is following his 1998 feature debut Belly with his second trip to the big screen. The director, who has filmed iconic videos for Kanye West, 2Pac, Busta Rhymes and more, will sit at the helm for Lust, described a “Fatal Attraction in reverse.”

Lust, written by Basic Instinct scribe Joe Eszterhas, is on track to go into production with a $28 million budget. Agents are currently casting for the film, which begins shooting in November in Miami, Florida and New York City, New York.

According to Variety (via MovieLine), the film “centers on a 30-year-old man married to an older Miami-based magazine publisher. The publisher is seduced by a younger, charming playboy — who secretly videotapes himself and his new lover having sex, leading to the woman’s life unraveling.”

Williams’ first feature film, Belly, was released in 1998 and starred DMX and Nas.

Sounds good, I know he will do a better job once he gets better actors. The acting in belly was terrible.

Belly was visually impressive but it was a weak script, weak cast and tanked @ the box office being a video directing skills DO NOT translate in directing for the silver screen

"Belly" was a classic first off so I don't know where ur coming from with that bullshit. 2nd it had a raw script. u must be non-negro or something or 1 of them ol' skool cliff huxtable ass niggaz. i might not be with the whole "lust" script and i think it's a pretty dumb idea considering that the topic really has no social relevance imo but to say that "Belly" was a fluke iz alien

Wonder why it took Hype more than a decade 2 direct another film. Don't know if I'm gonna check this 1 out in theaters because once you seen Fatal Attraction you seen em' all - and especially after that disaster of a movie Obsessed, you don't wanna see em again.
