Killer Mike Claims BET Banned His "Burn" Video

Mike Bigga blasts BET, says they banned his video "Burn" and adds that it shouldn't go unnoticed by the masses. He asks, "Do Blood gang members they regularly show 'tone down?'"

Atlanta, Georgia's Killer Mike recently announced to his fans via Twitter that BET has "banned" his new video for "Burn," a cut off of his PL3DGE project. The video features news footage that covers a variety of issues from the financial crisis this country has been facing to images of the Oscar Grant case.

Killer Mike first said BET banned the video but also acknowledged that MTV Jams placed it in rotation. Later, he sent Twitter messages directed towards BET's Stephen Hill about the matter. After asking other outlets to publicize the issue, he asked if the nation has become "lazy" for allowing the video be unseen.

Have we as American and Hip Hop head gotten so Lazy and Apathetic that we let #Burn http://t.co/6IPAPQT Go unnoticed by the masses.less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply

Several other Twitter posts show the disappointment Killer Mike felt in regards to the alleged banning. He shared that politically charged videos allowed him to gain a greater understanding of the world while growing up and said he feels the video should be seen by many more.

I on the behalf of the poor and disenfranchised aks u to reconsider the decision NOT to play #Burn @StephenGHill & @BET http://t.co/6IPAPQTless than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply

Understanding that the video has some images and language that are not typically seen on television, Mike offered to have a discussion about it. He also shared that he would not be opposed to the video airing only at certain time slots, but that not playing it, in his mind, is "shameful."

If the violence in #Burn Offended you @BET we cuda shown it at nite and had a discussion with kids around it but to NOT play it is Shameful!less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply

Killer Mike also added that BET has not always been this strict with their regulations. He voiced his opinion regarding "Blood" gang members or affiliates that get their videos played on the network.

Folks say http://t.co/6IPAPQT Is too real. Well aint yall tired of FAKE SHIT! I expect @BET to play #Truth not Just Fantasy.less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply

I feel for Killer Mike, or Mike Bigga, but he's already lost the battle he's fighting. I don't remember the last time I actually watched a video on BET, with the internet, I can watch what I want, when I want. And ever since they said Little Brother's "Lovin' It" video was "too intelligent" for their rotation, I lost all respect for them

BET and MTV are irrelevant, they are dinosaurs. Nobody watches them anymore. The Internet is the future (as long as the Democrats dont get their way because they want the FCC to begin "regulating" the internet). The Internet allows individuals to choose what is good and what isnt. If a billion kids want to watch Killer Mike's new video, its called youtube. Its called Itunes. Actually studies show young blacks spend more time on the internet than young whites, so theres more proof that people are breaking away from the old media. (So much for Al Gore's crack pot theory that black kids will be at a digital disadvantage unless another wasteful government program is established). TV as we know it will not exist for much longer.

Actually, republicans are exponentially more pro-internet regulation as it is their stance that the unregulated internet prevents too many financial opportunities from being CAPITALIZED on thus said regulation is warranted. I'd LOVE to see the data from these supposed studies claiming more young blacks frequent the internet than young whites. when at least 1/4 of all African Americans live below the poverty level in the U.S. it is difficult to believe that more young blacks are on the internet more than young whites; such an erroneous statement is beyond laughable. I'm still LMFAO at this notion that the democrats are anti-net neutrality......it's just flat out false. EVERY republican is pushing to end net neutrality.....they are doing so because there is more money to be made by the ISP's and wireless providers if net neutrality no longer exists.

the republicans too. Also black people watch 14% more television as well. Standardize tests are a joke. yes/no/true/false are no the answers to shit!

BET was pretty much outed back in the day for not allowing socio-political rap videos on the network.

^ this. remember when BET wouldn't air a little brother video and released a statement explaining they felt it was "too intelligent" for their audience to handle? i do. insulting. pathetic.
