Akon Supports T-Pain's Decision To Join Young Money

Akon says he has no ill feelings about T-Pain's move to Young Money, adds that they are brothers and voices his support for Pain.

Fans who have enjoyed the T-Pain and Akon collaborations may be in for some change as Pain has moved on to Young Money's camp. The decision comes after years of collaborating with Akon as part of Konvict Muzik, where they released cuts like 2007's "Bartender."

The Young Money move may not be a surprise to some, concidering Pain's collaborative work with Lil Wayne. Together, the two formed T-Wayne and have released singles together in the past, including 2008's "Can't Believe It."

During a recent interview with VladTV, Akon spoke about his partner's switch to Young Money, saying he harbors no ill feelings toward the move. In fact, Akon reiterated his support for Pain in the transition, saying they are like brothers to one another.

"That's Pain's business decision. We've got one more album on Paine, which is the one he's about to release now. After that, Pain is free, man. He's his own man, he's his own entrepreneur and decisions from this point, he has to make on his own. I'm happy for him. Whichever way he goes, that's my little brother, he gets the support from us. That's my brother and it is what it is, you know what I'm sayin'?"

Even the Wayne haters gotta give him his due credit. Young Money is becoming the Miami Heat of the rap game. How many labels ran by star artists have been able to successfully produce other stars (Drake, Nicki Minaj)? Khaled left Terror Squad for YMCMB, now T-Pain. Wayne on some mogul shit right now.

    • CodeRed

Yeah but truthfully, Minaj and Drake would've been successful even without Young Money. What about all the other people on YMCMB? They're just sitting there doing nothing, like every other rapper who is on another rapper's label.

  • SupaDupa

Akons only focus is Gaga which is fucked up cause talented artists (Pain, R. City) are not going to getjavascript:void(null) their album released

  • g

I like Young money's roster and all but outside of Drake, Tyga, Chris Brown, T-Pain the rest of them nigaz better be plannin' something cuz Wayne can only carry them for so long. especially if he retires like he says he will in a few years

  • jae

oh t pain join young money cooll

  • Christopher English

Notice how everyone that's been signed to Akon has abandoned him? Lady Gaga, French Montana and now T-Pain... somethings up in that camp...

  • anom

HEY PRODUCERS! Better take T-Pain off your list to work with now, he ain't gonna pay you shit now that he's with Young Money.

  • da1

He don't need that dirty ass nigga he got that gaga money. I don't even think t-pain has ever even went platinum before.

  • southsideboy

Akon gradually loses his best artists! (Rock City, Dolla & now Pain) And what happened to Kardinal Offishall & Colby'O ??? But I think he will find other big talents to sign with Konvict !!!!!!!!!!

  • Marc Wilcox

How he going to be joining Young Money that dude too old for them...he old enough to be a few of them fools daddy hahaha...What the world is music coming to these days? This is about as bad as Lebron going to join Wade and still not getting a ring...There is no individuality, no loyalty, no creativity, no nothing! This is why i stick to underground rap and my old school joints like Souls of Mischief, A Tribe Called Quest, Rakim, Ice Cube etc...

    • chitown

T-Pain is younger then Wayne and Nicki Minaj. He's 25, Wayne is 28, and Nicki is 26. He's already been making songs with Wayne for a few years so it makes sense

  • nixnox

This is entirely my opinion, but who gives a fuck about T-Pain

  • Daniel Gregory

You dimwits are hating on Wayne so much because deep down you know he's THE BEST RAPPER OF ALL TIME!!! admit it!! I can guarantee that weezy he can outsell or outshine your favorite rappers on any day of the week. Carter III went THREE times PLATINUM with over 1 million sold the first week hahaha and Carter IV will sell even more.

    • Brian Tate

Sooooo....the dude that said...and I regretfully quote: "Weezy F. Baby/ The 'F' is for Phenomenal", is the greatest rapper alive???? GTFOHWTDS son!!! There's not a single artist in that camp with skill! Period! "Eatin' wack rappers alive, shittin' out chains." -Jay Electronica.

    • YOUAJOKE

2PAC WENT AT CRAZY RAPPERS LIKE BIG, CHINO, LL, JAY AND NAS... IMAGINE WHAT HE WOULD DO TO WAYNE AFTER LISTENING TO ALL THIS YOUNG MONEY BULLSHIT... WAYNE AND DRAKE WOULD BE ROASTED ITS EMBARRASSING WHEN NIGGAS SAY WAYNE IS THE BEST... I COULD NAME 10 PAC SONGS THAT ARE BETTER THEN WAYNES BEST SONG

Stop trolling every story's comments section, mongoloid. I hope you get sucked up by a "tornato". Leave the intellegent members of soceity be so we can get back to listening to "crossword puzzle rap".

@ Daniel Unibrow Gregory........Wayne is overrated garbage..look at yaself man...ur Weezys fanbase...and who gives a fuck about album sales!!! just cuz a movie # 1 at the box office dont mean its good...your a fuckin ignoramous..hop off Weezys dick...muthufucka was garbage when he was with Cash Money..he wasnt the greatest of all time then either...just close ya hole fool

The problem with calling Wayne the best rapper of all time is what criteria or rappers are you comparing him too? Because if you only listen to mainstream rappers or a limited amount of artist they play on the radio 24/7 then I understand because there is not much competition. It's only about 6 people who u are exposed too. Most liL Wayne fans don't have the desire to explore real hip hop. If they did they would know that theirs other artist who would destroy this weirdo easy. Constant radio play does not equal greatness.

    • Doug Nichols

It's not hard to understand why Lil Wayne sells millions of records when it's marketed to fucking idiots like you.

    • jbatcha21

@4real, I agree that Wayne isn't the best to do it but you can't say that Wayne didn't drop some timeless tracks on each of the first 3 Tha Carter albums.

    • 4real

Dude nobody's hating on Lil Wayne and no he is NOT the best rapper of all time... Ya'll kill me with that shit. Wayne has been getting out rapped for the majority of his career. Look at this dude catalog - same rapper that gave you "The Block is Hot" and "Bling Bling"... You prob can't even jam those tracks without getting laughed at nowadays... The greatest rappers make timeless muzik... that most people can relate to.

    • Shlomi TalentDisplay Samya

He's a solid rapper for many reasons. Sales aren't one of them and if they were then that would make Eminem BY FAR the best. You can't really state who's the best because people like different styles like people like different tastes when it comes to food. For example, I think a good lamb chop is the best food ever while you hate lamb right? So how can I argue that it's the best food ever. Think about what you said there. After you do, follow @TalentDisplay

Why is t pain joining a garbage ass label like young money?? No one else will take him only Wayne n birdman

    • Doug Nichols

It's all part of the plan to get the shitty ones in a room together so we only need to drop one bomb on them.

  • RA

Akon a real niga. He gon be blessed since he has no ill feelings, and is genuinely happy fa homie. Inspired me as a businessman and friend
