The sports world witnessed an impressive achievement this week, as New York Yankees player Derek Jeter landed his 3000th hit, becoming the 28th player in MLB history to reach that mark. What’s more, Jeter became just the second player in MLB history to register a home run on the 3000th hit.
Also impressive, however, was Jay-Z’s prediction of when the historic hit would occur.
The rap superstar filmed the hit from his seat near third base at New York Yankees, and can be heard screaming “I told you!” shortly after the stadium erupted in cheers.
“I actually called it,” said Jay to the press after the game. “I called it for the wrong side though. I thought he was gonna hit the short porch [in right], but he surprised everyone.”
