Raekwon Reveals Wu-Tang Clan Is Working On A New Album

The collective has begun work on the follow-up to 2007's "8 Diagrams."

Wu-Tang Clan is currently working on the follow-up to 2007’s 8 Diagrams, according to group member Raekwon. Speaking with Spinner, the Chef revealed that while the album is in the baby stages, the Hip Hop collective has begun recording for a new LP.

"It's kind of early to announce a new album right now," he said. "We've been working on some things, though. [...] As far as Wu-Tang goes, it's something that we really got to get together first for."

Rae is also working on a tell-all autobiography, and revealed that he was unhappy with the accuracy of last year’s behind-the-scenes documentary Wu-Tang Saga.

"It gets a little weary because everything don't be really so much facts [sic]," he said. "But that be the other guy's opinions on how they want to promote it. I'm used to it. My life ain't a movie, so I just got to let it run out."

poor article. rae didn't say they were working on an album. he said it's too early to say something like that and they need to come together first. doesn't mean they haven't, but this is misleading.

i really hope this album can do a lot better than Iron Flag and 8 Diagrams. both albums were pretty alright, but they didnt live up to Wu's standards. im not trying to say that they should revert back to that 1993-1997 Wu-Tang Clan because to tell yall the truth, that Wu is long gone. sucks to hear. but let's hope that this album can still prove that Wu-Tang is still relevant in hip hop as of today! let's hope that they can bring in some new, ill, and fresh shit onto the table compared to all of that "same-old same-old" and "been there, done that" bullshit you hear in the radio today!

just as far as meth is still down with em, I'm all 4 da album

  • Anonymous

i really don't want another wu album right now. i'm more anxious to see if method man can take his time a finally craft a classic album (tical was near classic to me, but not there)

    • IDK

yea, it also messed up Inspectah Deck's beats for his first album as well. but Tical's beats were messed up too. that's why that album is very short and the production was very raw and rushed compared to the other solo albums. still a beast-ass album, though, and probably my second favorite Wu-Tang solo album, behind Liquid Swords :)

    • Anonymous

The flood messed up Inspectah Deck's "Uncontrolled Substance" album from what I recall, not Tical.Tical, Return, OB4CL & Liquid Swords were all made in a year.

    • IDK

Tical was a true Wu classic, but could have been a real true over-the-top hip-hop classic if it wasnt for that fuckin flood that fucked up RZA's basement and beats

  • Anonymous

8 Diagrams was and still is ahead of its time as far as production goes.

  • jae

lets hope this album is a banger not sum bull shyt its 2011 enuff of the sad herion beats use future shyt like yal did on wus second album and meths second album yeaa

  • Crystal

Need some new WU! 8 Diagrams is underrated, still banging that album to date.

REAL SHIT, REAL GROUP.... LAUGH WHEN FAGGOTS CLAIM SLAUGHTERHOUSE IS BEST GROUP,,, FUCK OFF YOU KIDS

  • datdudefromnyc

Wu-Tang Forever is the most underrated Double CD in the history of hip-hop. so many bangers on that album its not even funny. will be looking forward to anything Wu of course. great news.

    • hellrazor

@IDK, i see where you coming from. biggie's life after death came out months prior & was garnering all the attention which underwhelmed this album a bit, i remember MTV showcased the wu in their rockumentary (i still remember that, when MTV was actually worth watching), the only flaw wu-tang forever had was ODB's noticeable absence on most of the album. the production on forever was flawless, disc 1 was an enhanced CD which you put in your computer & unveiled a bunch of wu material. that album is truly overlooked, the solo albums that preceded forever were just a little appetizer for what lie ahead

    • oskamadison

Co-sign again. To me, the standouts on Wu-Tang Forever (funny, peep the initials, sounds about right) were the RZA, GZA and Deck, especially Deck. His verse on Triumph is one of the greatest verses ever. Hopefully, RZA is back on his basement shit for this new joint. If not, somebody better find Tru Master or grab some of those Donuts era-J dilla joints.

    • sincerejk

pretty much every beat rza laced on forever was incredible. so far ahead of their time that the album still sounds better than 98% of everything i've heard since. the only things i skip pretty much every time are that "wu revolution" skit and u-god's godawful solo track where he's talking about body lotion and coconut shampoo and shit

    • IDK

imo, that album is the best double album in hip-hop history...better than 2Pac's All Eyez on Me and B.I.G.'s Life After Death. it contained almost no filler, while the other two albums have a couple of songs i skipped, especially the songs in B.I.G.'s album. but yea, that album may have went 4x Platinum (more like 2x Platinum bcuz it's a double album), but it's still very much overlooked compared to other albums released in that era. like what the late Ol' Dirty Bastard said in the '98 Grammys, "Wu-Tang is for the children. We teach the children."

I think alot of people would agree, few miss shots but overall it think the classic material on that album makes up for it. Plus I can't think of an album in history that I had on, "most played" for so many years, without giving it along rest and coming back to it to see if can stand up to tadays music like rae's, and Gza'a material.

    • hellrazor

motherfuckin cosign, i was 13 when i copped it and i always felt that wu-tang forever didnt get the respect it deserved thought it sold well. disc 1 is my favorite, i could play it all day without skippin a track and disc 2 had a little more depth & openness to it, ghost & rae murdered every track they spit on (scary hours/cash still rules, the MGM, older gods and others), masta killa's verses were ill & menacing, etc. that album is just dope in every way and i STILL listen to it

  • BIG FACE ITALY

Fuck Yeah these are my dudes!!! Put a W up Wu children.

  • hellrazor

a positive story that puts a smile on my face, finally...something worth reading. ima be on the lookout for this LP, wu-tang makes classics!
