It looks like Consequence may not be the only artist to jump ship from Kanye West’s label. Now, one of G.O.O.D. Music’s earliest and biggest successes Common may have left the label, recently signing to Warner Bros. Records.
According to a exclusive article from XXL, sources close to the Chi Town legend report that he has officially inked a deal to release his next album The Dreamer, The Believer with Warner Bros. There is no indiciation whether Common as signed a joint deal between Warner and ‘Ye’s label or whether he has officially left G.O.O.D. Music.
Since singing to Mr. West’s imprint in 2004, Common has released three albums. His label debut Be led him to new career heights, garnering him four Grammy nominations and selling over 800,000 copies.
Earlier this week, Common released an EP titled The Pursuit with his newly founded super-group Cocaine 80s. The group also consists of fellow Chicago Hip Hop mainstay and lontime collaborator No I.D., Steve Wyreman, Rob Kinelski, Kevin Randolph, James Fauntleroy and Makeba, among others.
