With his Hell: The Sequel EP with Eminem hitting stores tomorrow, Royce Da 5’9 is hoping to put his partner-in-rhyme in touch with longtime collaborator DJ Premier. Speaking with Bootleg Kev, Nickel Nine said that Primo contributes to his upcoming solo album Success is Certain and that Em is open to working with the producer veteran.

“He only did that one, but he’s currently working on the single to the album called ‘Writer’s Block.’ He’s working on remixing that right now,” he said, turning the conversation towards Marshall working with Preem. “Yeah, everybody’s saying that, man. Everybody’s saying that. The crazy thing is, he’s not opposed to that at all. He’s a huge Preem fan.”

Touching on his final independent solo release Success is Certain (July 26th), the Detroit, Michigan rapper explained that it’s connected with his 2004 release Death is Certain, but not a sequel.

“It’s kind of like a spinoff of it. When I look back in retrospect, where I was at in my life at the time, it was a dark period in my life. Where I am now, it’s the exact opposite of where I was then. So it’ll have the same dark feel to it, but it’ll speak on triumph, overcoming adversity, the things I went through in the past. The content will be brighter, but it’ll still have that dark feel.”

After his solo album wraps up, he’s teaming with his Slaughterhouse members to lay down their Shady Records debut. “We got a lot of records done, and that’s actually about to be my complete focus, the Slaughterhouse album. Mine and Em’s. We gon’ get this project out and see what it does and shift gears pretty fast,” he said. “We definitely want to get it out this year, sometime towards the end of the year. That’s definitely the goal. We don’t have a date yet, but we did the first album in six days, so it’s not really a long process. It’s not something that’s going to take too much longer than it already has. Everybody’s wrapping up their prior obligations and getting them out of the way so we can focus.”
