Vibe caught up with producer Hit-Boy, the latest signee to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint. The California-born beatsmith explained that the deal came about after his work on ‘Ye’s Christmas crew-cut “Christmas in Harlem,” which also featured Cam’ron, Vado, Jim Jones, Musiq Soulchild, Teyana Taylor and G.O.O.D. Music labelmates CyHi Da Prynce, Big Sean and Pusha T. He also added that the fact that he signed with the legendary Chicago producer has yet to fully sink in, but that he’s excited to begin working with the group.

“[I]t’s definitely official. We’ve got a lot of things going with Kanye West right now. Just be on the lookout. I’m a part of the production team, so I’ll be working on various projects over there, pretty much everybody from Cudi to ‘Ye to Big Sean – everybody…It’s been in the works for three months, since ‘Christmas in Harlem.’ We just had to get the business right and it finally came together. I signed a couple of weeks ago.”

He added, “It was a dream come true. It’s Kanye West! It’s crazy. It ain’t really hit me until I actually had went to work. We worked side by side – making beats together and coming up with ideas – with the beats I was making and the beats that I already had. He’s a person I had said I admire so much.”

Hit-Boy also discussed on Pusha T’s recent smash “My God,” which was featured on Pusha’s debut solo mixtape Fear of God. The producer explained that his goal in making beats is to push the boundaries of what listeners expect. He also said that more of his productions may appear on the Clipse member’s debut LP.

“Yeah, that’s what happens,” he said. “But my whole thing is to push boundaries, to never have the same sound. I don’t ever want to duplicate what I’ve already done, but I can give somebody music of that caliber. I have been reached out by certain people and we’re making plans happen right now…I definitely got some dope music for Pusha. We’re coming, man.”

Hit-Boy also discussed his possible involement in ‘Ye and Jay-Z’s highly anticipated Watch the Throne project. Although he didn’t confirm as to whether he would appear on the final cut of the LP, he did say that he handcrafted beats for it regardless.
