Sleek Audio Clarifies Split With 50 Cent

UPDATE: According to the audio company, 50 cut them out of the equation and plans to proceed with another partner.

50 Cent is out of the audio business. The Queens, New York rapper has canceled his "Sleek by 50" line of pricey headphones after Sleek Audio announced that it has ended its contractual agreement with 50’s licensing company G-Unit Brands. While no reason was given, Sleek explained that they will be “re-evaluating our Wireless Hybrid over-the-ear headphones at a later date.”

The G-Unit henchman unveiled his wireless headphone line back in January, when he debuted the hardware at 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show.

"I know music and I've tried everything on the market as far as headphones go, but I wanted something different, something better, that really pushed the envelope and gave all music fans a new way to listen to their favorite artists," he said at the time. "I was fortunate to find Sleek, the technology they employ and their knowledge of how we hear music truly blew me away. It was a perfect match, I didn't want to create another pair of loud headphones, I wanted to create headphones that offer top-level performance, style and new technology."

He later hinted at a beef with Interscope head Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre, who were apparently angry with Fif for competing with the popular Beats By Dre headphones.

UPDATE: Sleek Audio has clarified its split with 50 Cent for their "Sleek by 50" headphone line. According to reports, Fif's G-Unit LLC entered a tri-party contract with Sleek and TV Goods before signing a Brand Licensing Agreement with Sleek. By nullifying the BLA with Sleek last week, G-Unit LLC effectively canceled the prior tri-party contract and allowed 50 to continue without the audio company.

Now, 50's affiliate company SMS Audio, LLC teamed with TV Goods in a Term Sheet for the two companies to produce a new over-the-ear headphone line endorsed by 50. Sleek is no longer associated with the product.

50 was hot in 2005. 50 wasn't the skilled rapper that used to rip mics, but he had a great ear for beats and made good club musc. But he can't make a hit for shit nowadays. This nigga destroyed his own career with his arrogance, you can't act like that with 2 well selling albums. He became everything he used to diss others for back in the day. He's like a parody of himself now. He lacks the longevity for claiming shit like he did and that clearly shows now.

  • joao reis

hmmm so now hhdx is telling me that actually 50 dropped sleek, and will do his headphones with other company? 50 that wanted out of his contract with sleek? ok...

Having money and being able to generate money are two different things. 50 has money, but so does Jay Z. Diddy. Wayne. Eminem. You're only as relevant as your current success, and it has to be getting to 50 how everything around him is falling to the waste side. And like someone else pointed out. He's one of the worst, if not the worst, actor in movies today.

If you read the press releases issued by TVGoods then you'll understand a bit more what it's all about and that you can't say "they cut 50." http://www.tvgoodsinc.com/inthepress.cfm

yet another failure for 50 cent. he cant rap he cant act he cant run a record label and now he cant even release a set of headphones stick to wat you're good at 50 - get yourself down to the precinct and do some snitchin, lol.

    • josh

Oh and vitamin water? Holding a bottle for photographs to influence people to buy it because you're holding it, has never, and will never, count as a valid business skill. His money essentially came from posing for pictures. Any rapper could have done the same shit.

    • josh

Mickey Rourke, you know - the oscar winning actor - said that the movie 13 he made with 50 was so bad it cant get released. And gun went straight to DVD. I agree that with every album 50 gets slightly worse, and after all his albums thats a lot of time for shittyness to multiply. As for his record label? What Camron said. And yes, i am a hater. Bawse.

    • THE REAL BWS-Fish

to the geezer above pretending to be me, well played sir. however, NOT well played to people on here talkin about 50's money. If im 'pathetic' because he has more money than me, that means ur all pathetic too because he sure a sfuck has more money than you too. money doesnt make u a good rapper.

    • BWS-Fish

yeah i know i gotta do something they about to evict from my place fuck u 50 fuck u i need that money man im broke dude hook me up with a job son cuz i cant sell my body to Just got out of jail niggaz for 20 bucks anymore im a BITCH NIGGA I KNOW

    • FUCK U AND FAT JOE

and he got millions more in his bank account then your no life looser ass bloggin bitch azz FACTS ARE FACTS BITCH

    • BWS-Fish

ok, il respond to each of your points then fucko. 1. GRODT was brilliant, no question. But that was in 2003. The Massacre was garbage. Curtis was the worst bullshit ive ever heard and BISD struggled to go gold. Therefore he USED to be able to rap, but hasnt been able to do so for roughly 8 years (unless u like lines like 'i love you like a fat kid loves cake') 2. Have you ever actually watched a 50 cent movie?!?!? One of the worst attempts at being an actor i have ever seen. 3. His attempts at runnin a record label are his biggest failure. Don't believe me? What about M.O.P.? wat about Mobb Deep? wat about Mase? What about Hot Rod? What about Spider Loc? Did he guide all these guys to big numbers on his label????Even banks has gone independent now! Basically i stand by everything i said.

    • ntwisp

great comment @heat357... you said it all

    • Heat357

??????? That's like sayin Allen iverson can't play basketball... 50 made it to a professional level at rapping, acting, and leading a record label... You can give us a numbers mean nothing speach if you want and talk about how it doesn't matter how much he makes but he undeniable... I'm going to quote a guy who posts on here sometimes but I don't remember his name... "Dre and Snoop made a song about guys like you,--- Bitch Niggas."

    • ntwisp

AND HE STILL HAS MORE MONEY THAN YOU'LL EVER HAVE... SO WHO'S THE PATHETIC ONE OUT OF YOU TWO??

  • junMaf*ckn

Shit Happens... thats why they made tissue. 50 gon be a Billionaire. That Nigga Aint Trippin.

  • sweek

cant go against jimmy iovine(illuminatist jew who runs interscope) and dre(his puppet) fifty they got backing from the elite and jimmy can make one phone call to that company and probably did that led to them dropping the headphones ,these people dont play that shit

  • Brandon Payne

are ya'll serious with that stock shit? cause if that's the real reason and he did ya'll like that then he's probably liable,. that's called Insider Trading and the reason it's illegal is because of people like ya'll saying you held onto the stock for one reason and then Lost all it's value cause one of the main shareholders "fucked" the system.... Dirty Business man... that sucks

Good investors can read and understand press releases. Here is an excerpt of HNHI's one: TV Goods, Inc. and 50 Cent's SMS Audio, LLC Update Details of Preliminary Agreement for TV Goods to Provide Direct Response Marketing to SMS Audio, LLC CLEARWATER, FL, May 06, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- TV Goods, Inc. ("TV Goods"), a direct response marketing organization and wholly owned subsidiary of H & H Imports, Inc. (OTCBB: HNHI), has announced that it and SMS Audio, LLC ("SMS"), an affiliate of rapper and business-mogul 50 Cent, have updated the terms of the term sheet executed by the parties on March 24, 2011, which contemplated an exclusive engagement for TV Goods to produce and distribute a direct response television infomercial to globally market a wireless over-the-ear headphone product that would bear the name "Sleek by 50." TV Goods and SMS have updated the term sheet to provide that any definitive agreement between the parties would relate to a wireless over-the-ear headphone product offered or sold by SMS that is endorsed by and/or and bears the name of "50 Cent." The definitive agreement between the parties is no longer contingent upon SMS consummating the acquisition of certain products from Sleek Audio, LLC as was previously announced by TV Goods on March 31, 2011 and is now only contingent upon the parties entering into a definitive agreement. At the time the term sheet was originally announced, 50 Cent stated, "I feel TV Goods is the right partner for direct response marketing of our first audio product. This is their specialty. I know quality sound equipment, and TV Goods knows how to bring it to consumers through their living rooms." When the terms of the arrangement were updated, Kevin Harrington, Chairman of TV Goods said, "We love working with 50 and hope to expand our collaboration with him to other categories of products."

    • Bankster

Yeah, this is what I read...I think it will work out..I feel sorry for the ones that got out too early. By far one of the most exciting stocks in my portfolio besides blah blah blah.

  • Hach Zawrot

50 just pulled one a big "Pump and Dump." He got the stock price jacked up on these headphones after he bought it for nothing. Made millions off of it then got out due to possible legal ramifications that he may have not been able to sell his stock if he was still a partner. Smart ass man.

    • Bankster

Ummm 50 still owns the stock. he ain't Madoff..Broke Bankster get your weight up: TV Goods, Inc. Clarification of Its Relationship with 50 Cent's SMS Audio, LLC 9:07a ET May 9, 2011 (Market Wire) TV Goods, Inc. ("TV Goods"), a direct response marketing organization and wholly owned subsidiary of H & H Imports, Inc. (OTCBB: HNHI), in response to what it feels is some confusion in the market, has issued a clarification of its relationship with 50 Cent and SMS Audio, LLC ("SMS"), an affiliate of rapper and business-mogul 50 Cent. On Friday, Sleek Audio LLC issued a press release stating that it had terminated its relationship with 50 Cent and his companies and that Sleek had also terminated an earlier tri-party deal between Sleek, G-Unit LLC (a company owned by 50 Cent) and TV Goods. In actuality, it was G-Unit that terminated a Brand Licensing Agreement that it had entered into with Sleek, which termination automatically triggered the termination of the earlier announced tri-party agreement. However, not long after the termination of the tri-party agreement, TV Goods and 50 Cent, via his affiliate company, SMS Audio, LLC, entered into a Term Sheet for the two parties to continue joint efforts to produce and distribute a direct response television infomercial to globally market a wireless over-the-ear headphone product offered or sold by SMS that is endorsed by and/or and bears the name of "50 Cent." Sleek is not a party to that Term Sheet. The original Term Sheet, as previously announced, was strictly limited to marketing the "Sleek by 50" product and was dependent upon SMS and Sleek reaching an agreement on the acquisition of rights to that product. Under the revised Term Sheet, the definition of "Product" is now not restricted to an over-the-ear headphone product only from Sleek but now includes an over-the-ear headphone product offered or sold by SMS that is endorsed by and/or and bears the name of "50 Cent." This could result in getting a product to market sooner. It also removes the requirement that SMS first reach an understanding with Sleek. Now that is no longer required to be accomplished before TV Goods and SMS move forward on a product. 50 Cent, through his affiliate organizations, remains a significant shareholder of TV Goods, owning 7.5 million shares and 22.5 million warrants, which he, via his affiliate G-Unit, purchased for $750,000. At the time the term sheet was originally announced 50 Cent stated, "I feel TV Goods is the right partner for direct response marketing of our first audio product. This is their specialty. I know quality sound equipment, and TV Goods knows how to bring it to consumers through their living rooms." When the terms of the arrangement were updated, Kevin Harrington, Chairman of TV Goods, in a previous press release said, "We love working with 50 and hope to expand our collaboration with him to other categories of products." About The Company: H & H Imports, Inc. is the parent company of TV Goods, Inc. TV Goods, Inc. is a direct response marketing company. We identify, develop and market consumer products for global distribution. TV Goods was established by Kevin Harrington, a pioneer of direct response television.
