Q-Tip Reacts To Consequence's MTV Comments, Says "I Gave The Nigga A Look"

It's not been a happy afternoon for the former band-mates and cousins, as Q-Tip takes to Twitter to tell the world that Cons "doesn't know what he's talking about."

This afternoon, Queens, New York emcee Consequence appeared on MTV's Rap Fix Live. Hosted by Sway Calloway, the veteran told live viewers that he's no longer affiliated with G.O.O.D. Music, who released Cons' first solo album, Don't Quit Your Day Job in 2007. Additionally, the onetime member of A Tribe Called Quest stated that he's longer professionally affiliated with the group's founding member, Q-Tip, who is Consequence's blood cousin.

Both Kanye West and Q-Tip were said to be executive producing Consequence's sophomore solo album, Cons TV, which had been planned for release on Universal Motown Records since 2009.

Among Consequence's many notable comments and accusations, the emcee called himself "the glue" within A Tribe Called Quest on the group's fourth album, 1996's Beats, Rhymes, and Life, which was during the period in which Cons was a member. Specifically, Consequence claimed that he calmed tensions between group members Q-Tip and Phife Dawg. Watching the streamable interview, Q-Tip reacted via Twitter with, "GLUE? I gave the nigga a look." The quote, directed at Consequence, refers to ATCQ's including the aspiring, teenaged emcee on their 1993 b-side single "The Chase," as well as later opportunities.

Subsequently, Q-Tip publicly apologized to MTV Rap Fix Live's host Sway Calloway (on Twitter) for his cousin's behavior. The emcee/producer, who just yesterday, was announced as a headliner to the seventh annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, also refuted additional comments Consequence made in the segment. "He doesn't know what he's talking about," tweeted a clearly frustrated Q-Tip.

Tip is a natural jerk trust me. I'm not gonna be a prick and name drop on here but when I got to know about dude it threw me off; Moreso cos I always viewed him in a different light. Cons is a jerk too, but between the 2 of them I'll hand that title to Tip easily. One thing we should ask ourselves is why does Cons all of a sudden seem to be on some kinda rampage - with Pusha, with Kanye, and w/Tip? Why air out all this now after all these years? Seems like we're observing the making of an opportunistic jerk and he's out for blood at anybodys expense.

Tip doesnt deny that Cons helped calm down the obvious problems between him and Phife. If he did that, he'd be the glue. Tribe is one of my all time favorites but Movies On Demand 2 is one of my current favorites.

Damn, classic 2010-2011 Q-tip. Airing out his gay-ass feelings on twitter. Stop acting like a teenage girl, and provide your response through a legitimate, traditional medium....I wanna support Tip, but he makes it really fucking difficult with the faggoty twitter bullshit...#grownmenactinglikegirls ...lol

The Dilla beats on there were fire but people always take that shit for granted per usual. On another note I will start taking Q Tip more seriously when he confesses to acts of beat jacking.

Don't Quit Your Day Job! (2007) was one of the worst hip hop releases of that year.
