Chrysler’s recent Super Bowl ad featuring Eminem celebrating both the company’s and the emcee’s hometown of Detroit were a huge hit. Now, according to USA Today, the company is looking to repeat that success by enlisting Em’s mentor, Dr. Dre. In spots that are scheduled to being airing in May Dr. Dre will act as pitchman for Chrysler’s 300 Sedan.
The campaign is reportedly going to show the good doctor hard at work, at his studio and developing his growing brand of audio products. The theme of the ad being that the Chrysler 300 is a luxurious reward for a job well done. Chrysler CEO Olivier Francois tells USA Today, “This will be a breakthrough in terms of how you speak about luxury (in) this country. It doesn't speak about luxury in terms of just aesthetic, but about luxury in terms (of) the spirit.”
As far as Dre’s day job is concerned the world still waits for a confirmed release day for the perpetually delayed Detox. For now, that album’s lead single, “I Need A Doctor,” peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and has sold in excess of one million copies.
