Prior to the live airing of the 53rd Grammy Awards, two of Hip Hop’s biggest superstars pulled in awards. Eminem, who also performed “Love The Way You Lie, Pt. 2”   and “I Need A Doctor” in an ensemble performance with Skylar Grey, Dr. Dre and Rihanna, won “Best Rap Solo” for the Recovery song “Not Afraid.”

Jay-Z won for his Alicia Keys-assisted 2009 song “Empire State of Mind” in the “Best Sung/Rap Collaboration” category. The song was from Jay’s Blueprint III album.

Last year, Jay-Z and Eminem performed four concert dates together in New York City and Detroit for their Home and Home series.
