Bad Boy Entertainment (f/k/a Bad Boy Records) is known for delivering Notorious B.I.G.’s classic debut, Ready To Die, as well as multi-platinum success for Mase, The L.O.X. and even the label’s founder, Sean “Diddy” Combs. This week, Crain’s New York selected the 18 year-old company as the third-largest black-owned company in New York City.
Including a major label, restaurants, a recording studio, a film company and more, Bad Boy Entertainment is believed, by The Atlanta Post, to have an estimated 600 employees, with annual revenues estimated at $300 million. Bad Boy came behind Goya Foods and Palladium Equity Partners.
To qualify for Crain’s list, a company must have its headquarters within New York City, and be at least 51% black-owned.
