With rapper/activist Rhymefest planning his candidacy as alderman for the 20th Ward in Chicago, the Grammy award-winning emcee will take the stage tonight (January 8) at the Congress Theater to link with his youth constituents.

Joining Rhymefest will be legendary New York crew The Wu-Tang Clan, who are currently wrapping up their highly-touted “Rebirth Tour” which began last month. Though RZA will not be present, all other seven founding members will be in attendance, as well as close Wu-Tang affiliates Cappadonna, Mathematics and Streetlife.

Doors for tonights show open at 8:00 p.m. For more information on venue and location, click here. The municipal general election in Chicago will commence on February 22, but voters can cast ballots earlier if preferred. For more information, visit here.

In other news, veteran rap trio Salt-N-Pepa will embark on a national tour that is sure to appease fans of late 80’s/early 90’s Hip Hop.

Fittingly titled “Legends Of Hip Hop,” the 20-date tour will begin February 4 in Cleveland, Ohio, with names like Slick Rick, Biz Markie, MC Lyte and Naughty By Nature featured throughout the two month road trip. The “Legends Of Hip Hop” tour also marks the 25th anniversary of Salt-N-Pepa’s platinum-selling debut album Hot, Cool & Vicious.

“Last year, the response was incredible. From Atlanta to D.C., we sold out each date,” stated Pepa, real name Sandy Denton. With a star-studded cast riding along Salt-N-Pepa this time around, they expect a similar turnout for 2011. “People really want to see us and we really wanted to make this happen for our fans. Also, the timing was just right and it just all came together perfectly.”
