Flavor Flav Explains Covering His Darker Periods IN New Memoir

UPDATE #2: Now available, Flav looks at his book and explains some of the darker periods in his life and career.

Public Enemy emcee Flavor Flav is the latest Hip Hop star to venture into memoir. Since Jay-Z's Decoded released last month, memoirs have been announced by Q-Tip, Prodigy, Benzino and a new work by Ice-T. According to Amazon, Flav's work, titled Icon, will release on March 1, 2011 through Farrah Gray Books.

Although known in the last decade for his role in Vh1 "Celebreality" shows such as Flavor of Love and The Surreal Life, the 51 year-old is known for his hype-man and rapping role in Public Enemy. In 2006, Flav released his solo debut, also called Flavor of Love.

Public Enemy's leader, Chuck D, has released a book of his own, 1998's Fight The Power.

UPDATE #2:

Available since earlier this month, Flavor Flav recently releaseda statement about his memoir, Icon, and its subject matters. "I've been down some pretty dark holes - but somehow I always found the strength to climb back out of them," said the rapper, born William Drayton, Jr in a press statement.

"I get asked about regrets but I have no regrets in my life and I would change nothing. The reason is because it took the past to bring the future, and if I was to change something in my past then today I might not be able to teach what I've learned," said the Public Enemy member.

Ok, so Flav has not really presented himself in the best possible light over the last few years (to put it politely) but he will always be a founding member of Public Enemy and for that reason he remains a living legend.

HiphopDX made a mistake. The actual title of the book is "Icoon".... But seriously, I hope he could at least show some intellect in this autobiography so that we can at least learn something from him. After all, he is a part of PUBLIC ENEMY and as I write this I'm realizing that I'm asking for too much. Smh

this is a clown he made black people look bad with his coonery........make it even worse was the fact that he was apart of PUBLIC ENEMY!!!
