Hot Rod Talks 50 Cent's G-Note Records

G-Note's flagship artist talks about the new label and 50's stern words

Hot Rod signed to G-Unit Records in 2006 but has gone nearly five years without an album. 50 Cent's latest creation G-Note Records may be his chance to shine.

“G-Unit Records is hardcore street influenced hip-hop music, but with G-Note it’s more of a pop, dance and R&B feel," Hot Rod told Vibe. "I’m like a fusion of both. You’re still going to hear me rapping but it’s on a different style of production."

After signing to 50's popular label in 2006 Hot Rod did release a single, "Be Easy" featuring Mary J. Blige. After the single failed to connect, Fif had some words for this young artists. “50 sat us all down—me, Spyder Loc... everyone, he told us straight up 'You got to make yourselves hot. I can’t just be doing everything.' He wanted to see what we could do independently. This was back in ’07. That’s when I took to my own grind and found promoters and did things on my own. Touring really was a big part of me getting to this point. I didn’t lose faith, I just realized I had to step up to the challenge.”

“G-Note has been established, but we just didn’t go public until now," added Hot Rod, who was influenced by electronic music while touring Europe. "The whole plan was to put out 'Dance With Me' as the first single on G-Note. I’ve been touring worldwide since 2007 and hit over 20 countries on my own. All the influences from the road, that's what really took me into this new lane."

Hot Rod is currently working on his debut, which is earmarked for a summer 2011 release. Tentatively titled My Life, he'll be working with producer David Guetta, Akon and Pharrell Williams on the album.

Why do these faggots steal the european swag? Fuck outta here with that bullshit. Stop jocking european music and passing it on as your own..

Fif is about business and money...He could give a fuck about European music...If it's enough to make dollars and sense for 50's hustle then he will unfortunately move on it...It's easy to tell that Fif is not great when it comes to be a musician and knowing what's hot and what will sale in terms of music...If that were the case then Lloyd Bank's Hunger For More 2 would've already been Triple Platinum by now...Kanye is a musician and a masterful song setter...50 lacks in those areas...For now Fif is just hanging on by a string as to what he can do and what he can sell musically through himself and his artists for the time being...
