BET's "106 & Park" Has Its Greatest Month Ever In Television Ratings

Brotha the fight is always on. Im not giving up Im just looking at reality. I have tried for so many years to reach so many people and it goes upon deaf ears. Its just the fact that our images of who we want to be are bigger than the images of who we are. Sadly enough Black men minds, this is were it needs to start, are in the wrong place. BM are more focused on rims, shoes, and sleeping with every girl out there. Truth of the matter I like those things to, except the sleeping with women because Im married, but I love raising my kids more than those things. Once my kids have what they needs then I'll buy something new for myself, I deserve it. The black men that will sit in lines for the new Nike shoe will be the same dudes that wont stand in the grocery lines for their kids when their hungary. Its amazing we are truly lost.

i agree damn near wholeheartedly...my b if i missed any sarcasm, this topic gets me a little heated obviously...as for the barber shop, i cut my own hair...just playin...i mean, I DO cut my own hair but i know what u mean...its true that heads in barbershops etc. talk that "how to get mine" shit...but why are we all cool with that being the label that gets put on us? all i'm saying is its not okay for us all to be labeled the same...and the fact is yes we are judged by our worst traits, but we need to put a stop to that shit, and stop being okay with it AT ALL...the first step is to denounce these stereotypes, cold motherfuckin turkey...we know that all white people aren't rednecks and hillbillies, and that is represented in day-to-day culture, no one makes that mistake...but black people are all labeled the same in pop culture; as hip hoppers, goons, thugs, rappers, booty shakers, criminals...there's A LOT of black people who don't even like rap, but they are not represented...any of us who dont fit a stereotype are not represented...THAT IS THE PROBLEM...people need to get mad about this shit if its ever gonna change...

I always considered CMT (Country Music Television) to be WET basically, anytime I want to get in touch with my roots I turn that on and watch some Monster truck rally's and Mud Wrestling, reminds me that I'm white

BET is not even owned by black people also don't white people own pretty much every other channel Viacom Oversee's All thats on television that and clear channel and I'm pretty sure they're owned by white people FYI Stop crying about the name of a channel it's really lame

Good points from both of you brothers. Its good that 106 and Park is still on and alive, but it is the mindset of the people that have to change before what we see on 106 and Park will change. You just hit the nail on the head! Agree with you but BET is blamed for making ignorance and "ghetto fabulous" life appealing to the masses, especially the kids. Back then we had Run DMC and Michael Jackson reciting alphabet to the kids. Now we have artists talking about sex and drugs making fast, dumb life popular and cool. Network is responsible to show something new and educating to the youth, not poison their minds with half ass lyrics and ignorance. If BET doesn't support it then artist won't make so much money, and proves them that "fucking bitches all night" won't get you far in life. Which will turn kids to something more positive to be inspired. Parents should take responsibility as well but some don't, and kids don't know any better so they don't not diserve to be brain washed.
