One of emcee-turned-actress Queen Latifah‘s best known hits is “U.N.I.T.Y.” The song appeared on Latifah’s 1993 album, Black Reign, and after being released as a single early in 1994, won the Grammy Award for “Best Solo Rap Performance” the following year. Seventeen years removed from the song, the New Jersey star is using her Covergirl platform to update the song, 10 times, with a host of female emcees.

DailyVenusDiva.com reports that Queen Latifah has begun her 10-part series to show the song’s relevance today, pushing for unity within the community and among women. The weekly series will feature acts new and old alike, with the premiere “U.N.I.T.Y. (Remix)” featuring contemporaries MC Lyte and Lady Of Rage.

The song editions can be heard on the Covergirl Facebook page (Facebook.com/Covergirl).
