Despite sharing a hometown, Chicago, and having collaborated in the past, most notably on the 2004 hit “Slow Jamz,” Kanye West and team chose not to sign Twista to his G.O.O.D. Music roster even though Twista offered his services.

In an interview with VIBE, the Guiness Record holding rapper says, “I mentioned that I would be getting out of my [Atlantic Records] contract and wondered if he wanted to jump down. But I don’t know, I guess it wasn’t a good idea for him at the time. He should’ve done it.”

This tentative proposal took place in 2008. In the interim Twista inked a deal with EMI and is preparing to release his second full length for the label, this November’s The Perfect Storm, which will feature Waka Flocka Flame, Chris Brown, and labelmate Raekwon.
