Cassidy recently chopped it up with DJ Absolut’s TakeThisSerious.com about his upcoming long-awaited fourth album C.A.S.H. (Cass Always Stays Hard) and his relationship with Swizz Beatz, who produced his hit singles “I’m a Hustla” and “My Drink N My 2 Step,” among others. The Philly emcee says that although he is no longer signed to Swizzy’s Full Surface imprint (he singed to Carmelo Anthony’s Kross Over Entertainment in ’09), he maintains a good relationship with the producer and is just happy to be able to determine his future as an artist.

“I’m not on Full Surface no more,” he explained. “But I’ve still got somewhat of a relationship with Swizz [Beatz]. We don’t communicate everyday, but we talk every once in a while. I mean, he’s a busy man, he’s doing his thing. I’m not in the studio with him as much as I’d like to be, but everything happens for a reason. I’m just happy that I’ve got my freedom as man to be able to go in the direction that I want to go in. I’m happy that I’ve got my production company to be able to put my artists on, the same way I was happy for Swizz when he got his production company…so being the fact that he was focused on himself and his family and I was focused on myself and my family, we had to bring a different outlet to the table in order for all of us to get money…I’ve learned by being around him, so I’m always [going to] have love for Swizz.”

Cassidy also addressed whether Swizz Beatz will be featured on his upcoming LP. He says that although he and Swizz has recorded a multitude of songs together, he is unsure whether any of their recorded material will make the final cut.

“I did so many records [with Swizz]” he said. “I’ve got to cap a certain amount of songs that I can put on the album, so I’m not even sure of all the records that are going to make the album. Swizz might make the album, or he might not. I mean, I’ve got records that could potentially make the album, but I’m not sure right now. I’ve got a crazy record that Swizz produced right now that’s floating around called “Searching” with John Legend…it’s a big, big record. I’ve definitely got a lot of records with Swizz, but I’m not even sure what records are going to make the album, so I don’t want to say that he’s on it not.”
