R&B performer, songwriter and frequent Hip Hop collaborator Bruno Mars was arrested over the weekend for possession of narcotics. The Las Vegas Review-Journal cites Las Vegas police in reporting that Mars, whose real name is Peter Hernandez, was confronted by Hard Rock Hotel security officers in a bathroom early Sunday morning.

Mars has gained popularity over the last year co-writing B.o.B’s platinum-selling single, “Nothin On You,” as well as Cee-Lo’s “Fuck You, and hits by Travie McCoy and Flo Rida. Mars has taken to Twitter since the reported arrest, but none of his messages have addressed the matter.

Aside from confirming the arrest to the Review-Journal, Las Vegas police have not commented further nor provided information on what drugs Mars had in his possession. Mars’ debut album, Doo Wops & Wholigans, is scheduled for an October 5 release. (11:45 am, September 20)
