The Toronto Film Festival took place this weekend and there was no shortage of Hollywood stars spotted in the city. However, Eminem, was not one of them. Much to the dismay of hundreds of his fans.
Despite press releases notifying the public that Eminem would not be attending the premier of “8 Mile,” hundreds of fans showed up anyway. Elgin Theatre on Yonge St was loaded with fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the hip hop superstar. Curtis Hanson, the films director, was in attendence and addressed the fans after the show.
Thus far, the critics that viewed “8 Mile” have had nothing but praise for both the movie and for Eminem’s performance. The Toronto Sun said, “Eminem acquits himself nicely in this debut and for a newcomer he gets a hell of a great love scene with Brittany Murphy”…”His fans are going to love it.”
