Swizz Beatz, Wyclef Jean, Obie Trice Reportedly Behind On IRS Payments

Hip Hop artists are feeling the brute of our government as missed payments on taxes has the IRS after them.

Nashville rapper Young Buck is not the only artist shirking the IRS for taxes as Swizz Beatz, Wyclef Jean and Obie Trice are also reportedly behind on their payments.

Swizz Beatz (born Kasseem Dean), who recently married singer Alicia Keys last weekend, has had 35 tax liens between 2003-2010 with over $4.1 million owed in that time period. While Beatz has been making payments, the IRS claims the New York producer still owes more than $2.1 million in taxes.

Rapper/producer Wyclef Jean reportedly owes around the same amount ($2.1 million) in back taxes for his non-profit organization Yele Haiti. Though the veteran artist drew public recognition for his relief efforts following the earthquake in Haiti this past winter, Jean has failed to pay taxes for his organization in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

While a significantly lower bill, Detroit rapper Obie Trice is also in the red with the IRS. According to The Detroit News, Trice owes $298,000 in taxes. Interestingly enough, the tax lien for the 32-year-old rapper is addressed to his mother’s house in Detroit.

I find it very ironic when Mr. Jean decides to go into politics he suddenly owes back taxes...The gov't is up the ass of the hip hop industry and not in a loving gay manner.

Shit happens, Wyclef being behind on his taxes doesn't deminish the good things he's done for Haiti, I'm at work and bored, you're making it seem like the donations go directly into his pocket. There's a lot of lower-middles class people who still contribute to charitable organisations, so what makes Wyclef Greedy? And don't get me wrong, I hate his music, trust me. But anyways, rappers are people too, tax problems happen to a lot people. Any body fronting on this shit that's happening to these dudes with their taxes now-a-days really should get off their high horse. Nobody likes a douchebag lmao

what has he done??? and dont speak about the VH1 specials you have seen this nigga is a puppet! bored at work, you on point!

Catrina? What was i thinking? lmao, i mean the earth quake, ok guys, have fun with that

Ok you've got some valid points, but clef has spent the majority of the last 15 years off and on doing charity work over there, way before catrina, i really can't hate the dude. Maybe for the past six months he's just been getting some career shit in order. I guarantee that this is not the last time you'll see him over there in the treches

    • I'm at work and bored

They asked Sean penn what he thinks of Clef and he basically said he can't really speak on clef because in the last 6 months Haiti, he has not seen clef or heard about him. Clef shows up to Haiti for photo ops and 2 days later, he's at the Grammys red carpet doing his hollywood shit. And the money from organization did go straight to his pockets. (Or to his expensive music video he made about Haiti) He can't even handle running a charity organization and he thinks he can unite his country? Really? How about trying putting the Fugees back together instead first.

  • i'm at work and bored

"The singer released a statement that he was resigning the chairmanship of Yele Haiti effective immediately Thursday" Yeah, how convenient. He's ditching his own charity organization because he owe taxes but now he wants to be president? hahaha

  • I'm At Work And Bored

co-sign. He has no time to pay his taxes but he can take our taxed earned income as donations for haiti and go make a expensive music video instead. He's broke, his career is over and now he needs to do this to stay in the spot light and make money.

So this is why he wanna be president! Huh!
