Lupe Fiasco fans may have to wait awhile to hear his latest solo project, the highly anticipated Lasers album. Recently, Fiasco took to his Twitter account to inform fans that the album’s release is out of his hands. While Lasers is being held up, his side project Japanese Cartoon will see the light of day soon, with the release of their project In the Jaws of the Lord of Darkness.

“Lasers is out of my hands guys and gals…it’s done and that’s all I can tell you…when they drop it…they drop it…so drop it…”

With that, it seems fans rallied around the cause to get the album released and Fiasco later thanked his supporters for their assistance.

“Really appreciate the EXTRA EXTRA effort you guys are putting out to get Lasers released…not fallin on deaf ears up at HQ!”

Fiasco fans can expect something soon, either way. The rapper who once denied involvement with the group Japanese Cartoon, is now proud to say that the band will release new material.

“JC IS in my hands though…and that will be dropping Fo’ Free @ allsabotage.com like soon as hell…ha!”

Back in 2009, JC released “Heirplanes” to varied feedback and the band released a statement saying that Lupe is not the lead singer but that he supports them.

“Percival Fats (born Percival Hindenburg-Fats) is NOT Lupe Fiasco (born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco). Although he is a dear friend,” the group wrote, despite the lead singer sounding exactly like Fiasco but with a Brittish accent. “Lupe does finance the band but is not, I repeat, not, the singer in Japanese Cartoon. He is, however, the producer and we value his participation very much.”

Now, their story on the matter has changed as their Facebook profile is advertising their lead singer as Wasalu Jaco.
