Today, Rap star Drake will join the Hip-Hop Caucus at Washington DC’s 9:30 Club for a rally to end offshore drilling. The event is part of the Caucus’ “Green The Block” initiative, which began last year.

In a statement, Drake said, “Every where you turn, pollution and poverty are hurting our communities. We can change that. Going green is the solution. I’m green on my tour, I am greenin’ block and you can too. It’s easier than you think.”

A great deal of controversy regarding offshore drilling has escalated after a British Petroleum oil spill, Deepwater Horizon, in the Gulf of Mexico in April. That spill is ongoing, and presently ranks to be the fourth largest oil spill in history.
