Following the Cleveland Cavaliers’ fall to the Boston Celtics in the second round of the NBA playoffs, speculation surfaced questioning whether Cavaliers superstar LeBron James would be leaving the team after seven years. Rumors suggest that small forward will be migrating to the New Jersey Nets, which is co-owned by friend and Hip Hop mogul, Jay-Z.
Jay-Z spoke to Rolling Stone this week and said he does not want to push James to sign with the Nets. “That’s his decision,” Jay-Z said. “We’re friends. We’ve still gotta hang out! I don’t want to convince somebody to do something then have to see him and say, ‘Uh, yeah, we’re 4-30…sorry.”
In an interview with Larry King aired last week, James said his first choice will always be the Cavaliers. “…This city, these fans, I mean, have given me a lot in these seven years,” he said. “And for me, it’s comfortable. So I’ve got a lot of memories here.”
Since the Cavaliers’ elimination, James has not spoken to any media about a decision to potentially leave the Cavaliers.
