Hours before last night’s taping of Vh1’s “Dirty South” edition of Hip Hop Honors, it was announced that one of the southern Rap stars of today, Plies, had to remove himself from the performance bill. The Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic Records artist said in a statement, “I had to make a choice between personally meeting with my fans during my album promo tour or performing at the Vh1 Hip Hop Honors and the choice was easy – fans come first.”
Plies’ Goon Affiliated album will release next Tuesday, June 8. The Florida-based rapper’s fourth LP features Young Jeezy and Fabolous.
Although it’s unclear if he filled in Plies’ vacancy, Compton’s Game was a last minute addition to Hip Hop Honors’ taping last night. The Aftermath Records star had announced earlier this week that his July 6 release, R.E.D. is subject to more delays.
While fans are urged to watch Vh1’s Hip Hop Honors premier on Monday, June 7 at 9pm to see which song, HipHopDX can reveal that Game shared the stage with Geto Boys legend Willie D, for a Rap-A-Lot Records classic in a night that’s devoted to honoring icons including RAL founder J. Prince.
