Ice Cube Talks Dr. Dre Beef Rumors, "Detox" Collaboration

The Don Mega says he never took shots at Dre, and the two may work together on each other's albums.

As of 9:00 a.m. EST Friday morning, the highly anticipated Dr. Dre and Jay-Z collaboration "Under Pressure" was nowhere to be found on the Aftermath Records website. But the site did feature a blog entry from Ice Cube addressing what many thought were veiled disses at his former N.W.A. partner Dr. Dre.

During a live performance of "Drink The Kool-Aid," Cube rhymed the following, "I ain't the doctor / This ain't the patient / This ain't that nigga always on vacation / This ain't no white boy's rehabilitation..." Blogs, other sites and social networking outlets questioned if Ice Cube was taking shots at Dre and Eminem, and Cube responded with the following via

"[Dr. Dre] asked me did I diss him during the Paid Dues Show last Saturday. I did one of my new songs called 'Drink The Kool-Aid' which got everybody thinking I'm dissing the whole industry…lol 'You internet roaches…' I told Dre that I'd never diss the man that got me started."

Ice Cube also he says Snoop Dogg was present, and it's very possible that both he and Snoop could be featured on Detox in some capacity.

"He played me some tracks set for the up and coming Detox record and we talked about me jumping on board the project," Cube adds. "Of course I talked about him doing shit on my record and he said he'd bless the album."

There are so many copied monster beats by dr. dre in the market and my friends got them in some website ,well I think they are look good but have the different quality when listen to the music ,well the makers of who make the real one will be angry and crazy for the fake are so cheap ....

  • ghost

Well ice cube can get a bit confusing...He has taken many subliminal shots at eminem MANY times in his 2nd westside connection album...lines such as ("IF I WAS WHITE AND CALLED MY MAMA A BYTCH IT WOULDNT TAKE ME THIS LONG...TO GET THIS RICH, I KNOW) and another one which says (THE BEST RAPPER IN THE WORLD AINT A EUROPEAN) and then another song (superstar) where ice cube and mack 10 just mangle on eminem talking about white boy back-pack rappers...the rich n famous, ignoramous...those are things that describe eminem. I think what ice cube is trying to do is push them to diss him without looking like the bully...then smashing back at them. Im my opinion mostley eminem

  • enclosedfury

You fools. He also says "That ain't no dead rapper's reincarnation"... which could be talking about Pac, but do you really think its a diss? He's just saying what he isn't... you don't have to take it ass a diss just because he's saying what he isn't. He's telling you what he's NOT so you don't get it twisted. Just "Know who you fuckin wit".

  • Best Rappers

Ice cube is lyin, that line is clearly a diss to Dr.Dre, and he dissed Eminem too in that song.

  • jerseycat201

you guys are idiots if u think thats a diss...he's jus sayin that hes not dr dre or eminem hes his OWN man with his OWN identity...somethin thats lackin in this talentless industry now...yall need to get yall comprehension skills up and stop lookin for beefs and instead look for good music

  • realtalk82

Cube is a legend, he doesn't gotta explain shit to the fans. He's really not the doctor on vacation nor is he white and in rehab. It relates to Dre and Em but that is Cube just being factual and frank. Not batin this as a diss, but I wonder if a rapper said "I wouldn't switch from Rap/to start makin family movies" how would people react?

this nigga full of shit eat a sack of baby dicks motherfucker

  • big braveheart

What actually happened to the Dre / Cube ' Helter Skelter ' album???

  • wiz khalifa

im not one to judge who it was about but if i had to bet money on it id say he was dissin them boys lol! i mean read the line a couple times and think about it, like people said above me who are the 1st 2 people u think of when you hear that line if he wasnt dissin them he was thinking about them when he wrote that i promise!!!

  • I'm at work and bored

ahahaha. I like Cube but this is some sucka shit. He did diss Dre and Em. "I told Dre that I'd never diss the man that got me started." oh really Cube? Didn't you diss both Eazy-E and Dr. Dre before on No Vaseline? That's like me saying Canibitch is a gay homo wyclef's purse boy rapper but NO! That's not a diss give me a break

  • HWK

This year theres a dre, cube and shady album comin out hopefully itll kick start hip hop again

  • Assassin221

I don't get it, what the fuck else would those lines be about except Em and Dre? That sounds like a diss and not even low-key, Cube needs to explain himself.

  • tek

ice cube is a baby man....we all know he was about to diss dre until dre told him to be on his album...what a fucken hypocrite

    • I'm at work and bored

"ice cube is a baby man....we all know he was about to diss dre until dre told him to be on his album...what a fucken hypocrite" ahahaha, co-sign. Cube is a legend but he has done some shady shit in the past. Remember how he jacked 2 cypress hill songs and tried to play it off as he didn't know what the hell B-Real was talking about?

    • DUBEM

Cube gave a shout out to Dre that same night niggas thought he was dissin him. don't speak if you don't know what the hell you talkin about

  • Christian2424

Ahhhh....this wouldn't be so bad for Cube if he was talking about them.....Could you imagine a Dr.Dre v.s Ice Cube Beef or a Cube v.s Eminem Beef...holy shit man.....that would probably be one of the biggest beefs of all time next to Biggie and Pac....This is exactly what rap needs right now.....Those two guys would generate so much buzz and sell A LOT OF FUCKIN much better than working together on a few tracks... If Cube wasn't talkin about Dre...who the fuck was he talkin about then? I mean lol...he's not the Dr.? not the white boy in rehab? Know of any other Dr's and white boy side kicks in rehab closely associate with hip hop today? I didn't think so... I think Cube stirrin the pot a little... Blitz attack comin... I'd love to see the hard core Cube comeback with some No Vaseline 2...LOL GO CUBE...that song was sick...

  • Drucifer1983

Glad he cleared all that up, it didnt sound right to me anyway, Cube has always called names when he's dissing(Eazy, Cypress hill, Common).........If he had summin to say he'd say it, thats what makes him "The nigga Ya love to hate". Those lines were in reference to Dre and Em but they werent disses, just references............

  • James_408

Incase some don't know. Cube & Dre have had BEEF before. Cube used to have beef with N.W.A back in '91. Listen to Ice Cube's "No Vaseline" and you'll see how bad Cube dissed MC Ren, DJ Yella, Eazy-E, & Dr. Dre.

  • defjeff

em is the best battle rapper period. anyone who calls him out is stupid. im surprised benzino didnt kill himself after the diss towards him. cube is nice but his style is just old. snoop, dr dre, ice cube and game are all average at best when it comes to lyrics. some of them were good in there prime and others (game) has always just been average. Detox better have some em, some new blood, and some classic dre beats in order to not dissapoint. cuz snoop hasnt said a nice line in over 10 years lol.

    • J.M.

Dear Kripnotik: For the record, when that crooked red line appears below EVERY SINGLE WORD YOU WRITE, it's not the internet's co-sign or the world wide web attempting to draw attention to your thoughts -- it's SPELL CHECK! Use it.

    • Kripnotik

wateva boii ur jst a pezant em aint got shit on snoop hes still all gud got sum mean lyrics but snoop knows tha game inside nd owt he'll rip eminem 2 peices!!

  • defranco

Yeah right fuck off cube!! you are a liar and bitch who wants to run away from his own word

  • D.D.410wutup

Dr. Dre and Cube huh... Just the thought leaves me speechless. Hope they actually put some shit out together.

Yo that first single by Cube is bonkers.

    • C-ARSON

To me Ice Cube is every bit as equal to Dr.Dre. Their not really comparable, ones a producer and ones a rapper. Dre gets an edge for Chronic &Chronic 2001 and bringing Snoop, and Em to the masses. But Cube gets an edge for writing the majority of N.W.A. first album and for balancing Hip hop and hollywood like no one has ever. Plus Ice Cube had one of the best runs in hiphop history LP's in 90, 91 , 92, 93, WSC in 96, 98, 2000. I mean shit, he's been in 30 movies, and like 10 classic movies. bottom line they both beasts!

  • als_360

come on man that was a blatant shot at dre and eminem. ice cube losing a lot of respect in my eye he should look at 50 and beans and see how far dissing legends get you, next you gon be makin euro pop music

Cube and Dre gon have the best albums this year.

    • watts kid

I hope cube can change that line before he drop the album dr.dre and cube need to talk be men and make dollars they both been dis alot in the game dis each other and people they both brought out I hope dre and cube can come together make good music together the media want to crown biggie tupac jay z nas 50 cent the greatest mc s qf all time what people dre cube scarface bun b pimp c mjg eiht eightball ren eazy e willie d bushwick krs chuck d kool rap big daddy kane and sveral others they started that gangsta shit and thats muthafucking thanks they get

  • BornInTheGUTTERwestsidesanjak

cube is the shit dawg dre he aight none special em is a beast from the middle east

  • I_Am_Beast

I think maybe the lines in question spoke to Cube's ability to always be on point. It might have been an allusion to Dre & Em, but not a diss. He's basically saying " I don't take a break from this, talk about me and I'll see you".

    • jesterdx

i dunno if u noticed but every rapper gets shot frown at em especially wen they on the low & the dont come out to respond... wen did cube get called out & didun come out to fuck motherfuckers up ummm let me fink real long & hard (i fink a boner is comin on im finkin tha hard.) NEVER!

    • Naughty by Niemczyk

If he didn't take a break from the rap game, explain the "Are We There Yet?" movies.

  • west los

Remember "No Vaseline"?? Cube is an OG when it comes to beef.

  • itsme

ohhh cube is dancing and shit!!

  • Don Lopez

i cant even begin to imagine a track with dre snoop cube and game. like single of the decade type shit

  • Hiiohoi

I don't think it was meant as a diss at all, Cube is just slick with words and it's his style to go hard like that and say whatever enters his mind whenever he likes.. dude just says how it is, no sugar-coating on Cube raps. Def. one of the best there was/is and I'd love to see him on Detox! Make it happen!!

The line was definitly about Dre and Em, but i dont think it was a diss, Cube has always been the truth, and can still rap circles around these young niggas today thats claiming that new west shit, his subject matter has always been diverse

    • HRCMS

Lol truce accepted bro, but i knew it was out of having a little fun, never took it personal but will honor the peace treaty
