Contract dispute or not, Joell is a real dude. My mom works with his best friend and he's constantly lauding how tirelessly Joell works on his craft. At the end of the day, this is a man who is trying to get a paycheck and get his art to the mainstream. He's highly talented, severely under-rated, and even the best industry cats in the game realize his potential. He was over on Aftermath years ago. Dre doesn't pick up dummy artists, so obviously the credibility is there. Why hate on the fact he's weak on the features when his talent isn't featured? He's no Busta, Ludacris, or Wayne that can drop a hit 16 and move on. Ortiz has his own style and story telling that makes him unique. Listen to any Slaughterhouse song and you'll see the dynamic: Joell has the distinct voice, Crooked has the mastery, Joe Budden has the introspective punches, and Royce can make you laugh, cry, or want to kill someone with a few lines. You all act like you've dealt with major label contracts before. It's a business first and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize how convoluted six figure business deals can become over time. Shit, look at Saigon. Insanely talented and stuck in label politics for the past five years and *finally* got his release and masters. Shit gets ugly when contracts are involved.
