Jay-Z, Beyonce And More Visit The White House

After revealing that he has been invited to the White House on several occasions, rapper Jay-Z finally took them up on their offer this week.

While in Washington D.C. for his Blueprint 3 Tour stop at the Verizon Center, Jay-Z along with Beyonce and Trey Songz paid an impromptu visit to the White House.

The White House confirmed with the Washington Post that Jay-Z and friends had in fact visited the White House on Wednesday, March 3 and spoke briefly with President Obama.

Before the White House confirmed the visit Jay-Z revealed the news to fans at the Verizon Center. The rapper also gave a birthday shout out to a fan in the audience who happened to be the son or daughter of a White House staffer.

“I don’t know where you are, but happy birthday. I just came from the White House,” Jay-Z revealed to fans. “And your pop works there. He said, ‘Happy Birthday.'”

Just last month Jay-Z revealed to the BBC’s Jonathan Ross that he had received several invites to the White House, but had been too busy to accept any of them.

“I’ve been invited to the White House a couple of times. Hopefully we’ll keep him in for eight years so I’ll have time to get there,” Jay-Z told Ross.

@ young mr duke boy, its not a matter of benifit for the president, it shows a bridge between the white house and presidency, which has traditionally turned its back on hip hop, and the struggles dipicted in the music, Obama having ties to hip hop is very important for the reasons that I stated in my above post, but it also shows his willingness to hear and understand whats going on in our culture, not just black, but hip hop as well, when Obama first decided to run for presidency, he called and ask J what was going on with the youth, what other pres has done that,so Obama inviting J to the white house is a very good look, shows he not only respects him, but he listens

Its a very good move by Obama, first black president, reaching out and embracing hiphop, J has rose above all odds, and his wrong doings as a young brother from the hood to become an international artist, as well as a multimillionare mogul, it shows black youth that come from those same impovershed conditions as him can also make it out, it provides hope to inner city kids, it also shows how much hiphop has grown and is reconized, stop being a 50 cent fan for a moment, and try to see through the eyes, and from the prespective of a people who have who less then 50 years ago didnt even have the right to vote, or even drink from the same drinking fountain as white people, this is more then about music, this is about accomplishment

Two questions for everyone on here. 1.) Why do you hate that Jay-Z is in the white house? 2.) Why does this make him Illuminati? As a people, regardless if you like the politics of Obama or the music/persona of Jay-Z or Beyonce, do you realize what it took black people to even get to this point? A black man as president? A black man as one of the biggest entertainment moguls in the world? A black couple as the highest earning Hollywood couple? I guess those civil rights beat downs, dog attacks, and murders mean nothing. I guess that it means nothing that blacks weren't even allowed to have their pictures on their own record back in they day.
