According to reports, an informant notified Pleasant Valley officials of a laundry room supervisor employed by the state of California who had been smuggling the contraband to the rapper’s cell. The items were found hidden inside of an Arts in Correction keyboard and typewriter cartridges.
While possessing a cellular device within Pleasant Valley is considered only a minor infraction, prison officials and members of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitions say that it is a huge problem. “It’s a big problem for us with budget cuts and furlough days, having state employees willing to bring inmates contraband for money. It’s happening now more than ever,” a prison guard stated anonymously.
For X-Raided, attempting to record while incarcerated is not a first time occurrence. In 1999, a prison guard at Salinas Valley State prison was fired for pushing recording equipment to the rapper. Over the last decade, X-Raided has been successful in releasing multiple projects from within the four walls, including The Unforgiven Volume 1: The Beginning and The Initiation. Many are speculating that X-Raided had the equipment to record a series of mixtapes and full length albums, which is stated back in 2008 he would be releasing soon.
Born Anerae Brown, X-Raided was sentenced to the medium security prison following a conviction of first degree murder and gang related homicide in which Brown and four others were found guilty in the 1992 slaying of a rival gang member’s mother. X-Raided is infamously known for his collaborations with fellow Sacramento rapper, Brutha Lynch Hung.
