After unleashing his first R&B artist to the world with her smash single “Addictive”, Dr. Dre and DJ Quik, are being sued for the illegal use of a sample. Truth Hurts has been getting more and more radio play with her first single reaching national attention since her album “Truth Hurts” dropped in stores June 25th. Saregama India Limited, a music and film company based in Calcutta, India, says that the India singer Lata Mangeshkar’s song “Thoda Resham Lagta Hai” which appeared in the Hindu movie “Jyoti” is where the background singing comes from. The company has legal ownership of the movie and soundtrack.

After receiving word of the usage of Lata’s voice and music, Saregama India Limited contacted Dedra Davis a lawyer in the United States to represent them in their lawsuit. When contacted about the lawsuit Dr. Dre lawyer’s informed Ms. Davis that the producer tried to contact the company but was unsuccessful due to the fact that the company had changed their name. Dr. Dre is currently finishing production on Rakim’s latest solo album.
