Former HipHopDX Features Editor Andre Grant said in his “Defense Of The Struggle Rapper” editorial, “Out of all the things the Hip Hop web has vilified, the “struggle rapper” might be the least deserving of all that ridicule.” Before Kendrick Lamar became big enough for Barack Obama to sing his praises or Drake found himself making deals with Apple, they were artists without a significantly large fanbase attempting what seemed like the impossible. Hitting the top of the charts became a distant goal to making past one hundred streams of a song possibly made within the confines of their bedroom walls and gaining likes, re-post or anything else that would reach someone. Providing a weekly outlet for those getting their feet wet in the sometimes brutal sport of Hip Hop, allow us to give readers a look into tomorrow’s possibilities through “Up NeXt.”

My inspiration for my career in music is the fans. Watching fans sharing the music links, making fan videos, asking for new merch, coppin’ bottles of my new orange soda inspires me. The fans reaction and interaction with the brand lets me know I have built a respectable brand that people constantly gravitate toward and It would be far from wise to walk away from that.”

Do you believe you have a shot at stardom?

Yes I do, I am a star! Fans and friends know me as “Your Favorite Stoner.” I’ve become known for wearing the hottest streetwear from the designers that everyone wants to be around. I make everyday life look cool as fuck. I take pride in being authentic, as I never hold back my thoughts and move with humility at all times. If you look closer you will notice me alongside the others in the solar system.”

Project(s)

My new EP is titled I Think The Neighbors Know. I believe this is the trap EP of the year. This project came about as I meshed my experiences in the hood with my friends while brushing shoulders with any and everyone in the music industry. I’ve sat in a studio session with Lil Wayne, interviewed Gucci mane during my intern days at Asylum Records and even talked my way into a spot on the 2012 Smoker’s Club Tour with Juicy J, Joey Badass and more.”
