Kanye West has released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter regarding his 2015 Billboard Music Awards performance.

Yeezy apologizes to his fans who watched on television that were unable to view his finale the way he intended.

Kanye West was grossly over-censored at the Billboard Music Awards. Non-profane lyrics such as ‘with my leather black jeans on’ were muted for over 30 second intervals. As a result, his voice and performance were seriously misrepresented,” the statement reads.

“It is ridiculous that in 2015, unwarranted censorship is something that artists still have to fight against,” the statement continues.

“Although West was clearly set up to face elements beyond his control during the live broadcast, he would like to apologize to the television audience who were unable to enjoy the performance the way he envisioned.”

During the annual award show, which aired on Sunday (May 16) producers censored more than a minute of Kanye West’s  closing performance.

West was given a little more than five minutes to close the show. He used his time to perform “All Day” and Yeezus cut “Black Skinheads.”

Fans watching from home were only allowed to hear about four minutes of his performance due to West deciding to recite the dirty version of his Swish single “All Day.”
