Kanye West Enlists The-Dream, Malik Yusef For New Solo Album

The-Dream and Malik Yusef confirm that they will appear on Kanye West's new album.

Fresh off his multiple Grammy wins this weekend, it appears Kanye West is in the beginning stages of recording his next solo album.

In a recent interview with Hitfix, both The-Dream and Malik Yusef confirmed that they've been working with Yeezy on new material for his sixth solo album. Although The-Dream kept tight-lipped about the project, he said that he and Kanye are planning to hit the studio soon and that, "hopefully we can get another Grammy together."

Kanye's longtime collaborator Malik Yusef gave a few more details about the impending project, saying that the album will be "a throwback" to an era of progressive black music. He also added that the album will have less of an emphasis on sung vocals than Kanye's past efforts like 808s & Heartbreaks.

"[Kanye] is a perfectionist, obviously. It's harsh. He says no to a hundred things," Yusef explained. "I can't talk too much about it. Just remember black music, the black experience. It's a throwback to that era...[and] a distillation of what's happening in the modern world...I don't know if we'd ever revisit that amount of singing [that he did on 808s & Heartbreaks]."

This past weekend, Kanye and The-Dream shared a Grammy win for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for the song "No Church in the Wild."

I wish ppl would think about what they say! Honestly how stupid can you be I love it when ppl talk about how Emcees are on their first ablum talking about struggles and not having a "Pot to Piss in" for lack of a better term, and by the time their 3rd or 4th ablum comes out ppl say they sold out cause they changed their lyrical content. So what exactly is a millionare or an established artists to talk about? Poverty, or the streets, or Everyday struggles?? Come on now you ppl would be the same ones calling them liars and phoney's if they did that because they don't live that life anymore so how could they relate right??, but when they don't talk about that life you call them sellouts and showboats,,,,SO FINALLY TELL ME WHAT SHOULD A SUCCESFUL RAPPER WRITE ABOUT THEN? I'm not a fan of the braggadocious style but at the same time I understand why some have to rap about it, Eg. 50CENT still rapping about drug dealing and being in the hood when he clearly does neither.

Fantasy is a classic what have you been smoking!!!. Kayne just like nearly every rapper out there. He come out on the first album humble and hungry, talking bout "family business" "we dont need no chains or fast cars" by album five is saying "you a bum if you aint got no phantom" talking bout louis v, channelle, prada like the rest of em he's just become a fucking rich bastard who likes jumping on stage grabbing awards off young girls(whether she deserved the award or not) its not for kayne to decide. FUCK KAYNE WEST!!
    • Ok
      Who the fuck is Kayne?
  • ELjay
he should work with No ID and get some more lessons from the real king YE
  • Fuck Yeah!
"Malik Yusef gave a few more details about the impending project, saying that the album will be "a throwback" to an era of progressive black music" Sounds like REAL HipHop. Let's just pretend the last couple years never happened!
  • Actual Facts
The College Dropout = Good Late Registration = Good The Graduation = OK 808's = Mad Garbage Fantasy = Wack
    • Locc
Fantasy is a near classic. LR and CD are classics.
    • @Actual Facts
you sir, need to end your life. Fag.
    • Judge Dredd
I don't know anything about genius but Kanye makes dope beats, and he's damn sure not regressing his sound to make "real hip hop" music. So fall back with all that ya ya ya, let's wait till he puts out some dope genre defining shit and bump that.... P.S I do not dig his fashion sense tho. Van Citys Finest. Do These Bitch Made Rappers Like Vaginas. Bet I Go INNN!!
    • X
@Co-sign. Fuck a Kanye clit rider. First two albums were good, the rest was either mediocre or garbage.
    • Anonymous
All of Kanye's albums are dope - the best being either Fantasy or College Dropout. The worst is probably Graduation (4 out of 5), although it was radically different from the previous 2 albums. 8080s and Heartbreak is an excellent album - just not a rap album. And having the artistic ideas, integrity and ability to produce it does not make it wack by any stretch of the imagination (it actually suffered from having one of the rappers - Lil Wayne - on it)
    • haha
@X you probably shouldn't throw dick/clit rider accusations out, considering you stole your name from DMX, you junkie dick rider.
    • Brandon
The fact that people still don't consider Fantasy a classic disturbs me.
  • cosign
Do I think Kanye is a great artist? Yes. Do I think his fans over-rate by labeling him a "genius"? Yup. Seems most people either dick ride him or hate him, but then again that's the case for most mainstream artists. When it comes to lyrical ability, I think he's actually average. But he's an amazing song writer and puts an insane amount of passion into his music. But then again, he isn't just a rapper, he's an artist. So idc who you compare him to lyrically, because musically he shits on most others in the game. You don't have to like him as a person (even though you don't know him, but make assumptions from the media), you have to respect him. He might be egotistical, an asshole, whatever...He makes GOOD Music.
    • egg
Ye's a genius in his own right. It's no exaggeration at this point. No one's saying he's the greatest ever at anything but "genius" is certainly fitting. It hasn't always been about just good music. Ye culturally just knows how to create. All his albums not only came with different music, but different themes, wardrobe, conceits that just went beyond the raps and beats. Dude deserves the title.

I'm waitin for the first one hating on here. Cause you just cant. Its impossible. Anything this guy touched musically became a masterpiece, from College Dropout over 808s&Heartbreak up to Watch The Throne and Dark Fantasy. He always finds the perfect mixture. I guess people are really not aware who they are witnessing, but this man is a genuine genius at what he is doing.
    • Loloyolo
