Last week, director Austin Christianson caused quite a stir after he released a reported trailer for Kanye West’s Cruel Winter short film.

In the wake of the buzz, the 23-year-old director spoke with Fuse about the legitimacy of the 53-second clip, stating that West and his G.O.O.D. Music crew had nothing to do with it. “Without getting into many details, I will say that the trailer was independently made and the video is essentially a concept trailer,” he said. “It’s used for pitching an idea and/or concept to a client. With that said, the video was being used for pitching purposes and it’s naturally intended only for the client to see.”

Christianson has already removed the video from his YouTube and Vimeo pages.
