Movie Reviews

Hip hop loves movies, not only do you have groups like Wu-Tang having their styles influenced by kung fu flicks, but you've got rappers like Will Smith, Ice Cube, and LL Cool J developing full fledge movie careers. But even if Common or T.I. isn't making an appearance in the movie, HipHopDX will still be there to tell you whether or not to spend your hard earned money on it or just cop the 30 new Lil' Wayne mixtapes that just dropped.

The Dark Knight

July 21st, 2008 - Slava Kuperstein | Theatre Release | Comments: 93
Has any franchise adapted into the world of film gone through more indignities than Batman? In 1989, director Tim Burton brought a version of the Caped Crusader to the silver screen, creating a highly stylized and atmospheric world which, although praiseworthy and masterful in its own right, set the tone for a franchise which went on to be a disappointment for over 15 years.

Meet Dave

July 18th, 2008 - DeMarco Williams | Theatre Release | Comments: 3

Okay, we’ll wait for you to stop laughing…

…If you didn’t chuckle at that one, there’s a small chance you will at anything else

Hancock

July 11th, 2008 - DeMarco Williams | Theatre Release | Comments: 13
Though he probably nailed down “The Biggest Movie Star in the Galaxy” title with recent turns in The Pursuit of Happyness and I Am Legend, Will Smith knocks out the Tom Hanks and Brad Pitt corners once and for all with this one. Say what you will about either, but there isn’t another man alive who can convince American families that watching a superhero curse, drink and put a man’s head up another man’s anus is nothing but wholesome fun.

While we’re on backsides, Hancock has no problems with you knowing he’s a real asshole. (You won’t want to actually say that term around him though; he hates
