Submission Policy

Valid lyric submissions to HipHopDX.com may come from any hip hop album available in stores throughout the U.S.A. and Canada areas. All submissions sent to HipHopDX must be that of established hip hop artists and must come from retail releases (excluding most "mixtapes”).

HipHopDX.com will not accept unreleased songs. This includes, but is not limited to, songs that appear only on street mixptapes; songs from promo copies of albums (where the song did not appear on the actual release; and songs only available as mp3. Singles from forthcoming albums will be accepted only after careful consideration of HipHopDX. HipHopDX will also not accept skits (such as: intros, interludes and outros). If the skit contains any rap performance, then said skit may be accepted after careful consideration of HipHopDX.

Searching the Database

HipHopDX.com asks that you search to make sure your submission is not already available on the site. If you receive a reply with a link directed to this section, take note that your submission was already available on HipHopDX, before you had sent it. A summary of search methods are available below:

  1. Check New Lyrics for the past weeks updates.
  2. Use the search function located at the top of each page (excluding New Lyrics).
  3. Browse for the artist using the alphabetical index, located on the bottom of each page.

HipHopDX takes pride in the organization of our lyric database and believes that the available methods of searching should reduce wasted time for both the typist and HipHopDX.

Formatting

HipHopDX.com reserves the right to reject submissions for any, or all, of the reasons stated below:

  1. Poor use of punctuation.
  2. Improper capitalization ("im" instead of "I'm” or "i" instead of "I")
  3. Incorrect abbreviations ("2" instead of "to" or "r" instead of "are")
  4. Lyrics that read like an endless paragraph. (Break each line either after the rapper pauses for breath or at the end of a bar (where the rapper ends a line.)

Be sure to keep lines of lyrics under 75 characters and don't allow word-wrap to start the next line (break each line at the stop point by hitting enter or return). Start each line with a capital letter and do not finish any line with a comma or period. No lines should end with punctuation (unless it is an exclamation point or question mark). No lyrics submitted with self-censoring (such as b*tch, sh*t, f*ck) will be accepted. HipHopDX is comfortable with profanity and we hope you are too. Submissions may, and will be, rejected for any of the reasons above; including spelling, punctuation and formatting. Lyric rejection is based on HipHopDX's standard of quality and does not reflect on the individual who made the submission. Providing your submission meets the above listed requirements and does not exist within our Lyrics database, it shall be accepted with gratitude
