Kanye West's "I Am A God" Inspired By Paris Fashion Week Incident

Kanye West's

Kanye West refers to himself as the top "living and breathing rock star" while speaking on his "Yeezus" record, "I Am A God."

Windy City rapper and Yeezus crafter Kanye West caused a minor uproar earlier in the year when it was revealed that one particular record on his now-released album would be titled “I Am A God.” And during a rare interview with W Magazine, Kanye went on to reveal the exact incident that inspired him to create the controversial song.

According to Kanye, he was drawn to the recording studio when he was told that he’d be allowed to attend one Paris Fashion Week runway show only if he chose not to attend any other shows during the semi-annual fashion fete.

“So the next day I went to the studio with Daft Punk, and I wrote ‘I Am a God,’Sh” Kanye revealed. “Cause it’s like, Yo! Nobody can tell me where I can and can’t go. Man, I’m the No. 1 living and breathing rock star. I am Axl Rose; I am Jim Morrison; I am Jimi Hendrix. You can’t say that you love music and then say that Kanye West can’t come to your show! To even think they could tell me where I could and couldn’t go is just ludicrous. It’s blasphemous—to rock ’n’ roll, and to music.”

Later in the interview, Kanye further elaborated on the creation of the song as he commented on his lack of desire to defend “I Am A God” and merely credited the song as being a representation of “rock ‘n’ roll” and “rap music.”

“I made that song because I am a god,” said Kanye. “I don’t think there’s much more explanation. I’m not going to sit here and defend shit. That shit is rock ’n’ roll, man. That shit is rap music. I am a god. Now what?”

Released on June 18, Yeezus serves as Kanye West’s sixth studio album.

Yeezus was good for hiphop in terms of pushing it into new boundaries. I have never heard an rap album that sounds even comparable to Yeezus. BUT. It just wasn't that great of an album to me. To make a song called "I Am God" to me screams "GIVE ME ATTENTION PLEASE, I KNOW DRAKE AND J.COLE AND KENDRICK ARE KILLIN SHIT RIGHT NOW THEY ARE MAKING ME FEEL INSECURE"...I did like New Slaves, Blood on the Leaves and like 1 other song but overall as a body of work it was shit. There is such a thing as too experimental believe it or not. I feel like Kanye didn't go into Yeezus trying to make the best music possible but trying to make the most interesting unique album possible. Little does he know he is starting to loose fans cus hes simply trying to hard to be a creative genius. And he already is you dont need to try so hard cus it comes across as corny.

Thats because you havent looked properly. Kanye blatantly listened to Death Grips and then said "I'mma be the first commerical dude to do that"

If sites and reviewers weren't paid off he'd been behind J Cole on the charts. Instead, he bought them off, they all gave it 9.5/10 or 4.5/5 and everyone bought the album, got home, listened and was like, wow, this is art. No, it's crap, that's what art is. Art is great stuff after the artist is dead, but if they're still alive and call it art, it's crap.

If the majority of people followed 5 percenter beliefs instead of Christianity, no controversy would have happened.
    • Al
Don't get it confused, every album up until his mother passed was about the values of christianity. Once his mother bit the dust, he went into the great depression, which he mentions on his current songs. Jay Z took him under his belt, his rhymes went from christianity to occultic. Masons also consider themselves GODS. So, by you thinking that it is NOEG, 5% - stands incorrect.
